These people and those like them are liars and finks of the highest order. No telling how much money each has made on the back of PED's. Disgusting, revolting, disappointing, all of these adjectives, and plenty more, are more than applicable.

But not a single one of those athletes has ever, ever done anything as reprehensible, as shocking, as unfathomable, as unbelievable as what Oscar Pistorius is believed to have done. Lance was a focal point in the fight for cancer; his lies have proven that the foundations of his career were fabrications.

Pistorius? The guy was a world-renowned, bona fide hero in the eyes of EVERY person because of his effort to make handicaps less of a handicap and more of a descriptor like hair color. No amount of deception, lies, theft, etc., could ever possibly amount to what Pistorius has been charged with doing to his girlfriend. It doesn't matter how pretty she was, it doesn't matter what kind of person she was, it doesn't matter. It's hard to think of another athlete who was as exalted as Pistorius was, that went through the kind of fall from grace he may face if the allegations are proven to be true. Sports are usually insulated from the real world, specifically because they are an escape from the real world. It's a very saddening and disappointing reminder that athletes are capable of doing the worst things imaginable. They're people too.

I still dont get why people look up to a guy that rides a bike for a living or a guy that plays a game for a living..

 

the cancer was probably caused by the drugs he was taking??

 

I had to google Pistorius...Didn't even know who he was.

I couldn't care less about who takes steroids and who doesn't...including Lance. He could secretly have mechanical legs that can ride a bike for weeks on end, but I still wouldn't care. At the end of the day, he still just rides a bike.

What's actually sad is that people look up so highly to all these "famous" people that they know absolutely nothing about...

 

You know, you're exactly right. He never crossed my mind though, and I think it's because it's impossible to think of him now in any way but the guy who killed two people and essentially got away with it. It's hard to watch the Naked Gun movies now because of him being in them.

 

Just because someone rides a bike, hits a ball, or runs on metal legs does not make them a good person.

People suck and will always let you down. I expect it of them.

 

So many examples in history. Plethora of people who did things that aren't right because they were mental or greedy in some way, if not both at the same time. This isn't new. This won't be the last. And we'll hear more about it because it's all news news news, this business of dirty laundry.

It is just sad.
