Yeah, I guess from a Vol point of view, it is a pretty big rivalry. But, in Gainesville, it's not NEARLY as big as UF/FSU. It's ridiculous, because the game means more between UT/UF for sure, but UF fans hate FSU with such a passion, that gets overlooked. FSU/Miami starting this year is going to be A HUGE game yet again with UM entering the ACC.
Oh yeah, FSU/UF is still one of the premier rivalries in the nation, but that's had a loooooong time to fester. The UT/UF game has become a huge deal in a really short time, s'all.

And for the Auburn jokes, they're the biggest underachievers in the nation along with Virginia Tech in recent years.

Alabama and Auburn are the only two schools in the country whose war cry has nothing to do with their mascot
.

UNC Tarheels have a Ram. I guess it's more impressive than some guy running around the stadiums with Tar on his heel.

Being from Louisiana, I must say that LSU owns all.

I also gotta pull for ULM (haha) since I'm entering there in 2 weeks.

I gotta say I have a soft spot for LSU.
If I were not such a rabid tide fan, LSU runs a close second. I prefer their(real) tiger to Aubie.

Same reason we're the Crimson Tide but our mascot is an elephant. Alabama and Auburn are the only two schools in the country whose war cry has nothing to do with their mascot.
Not exactly true. The Unniversity of California at Irvine's mascot/nickname is the Anteaters, and UC Santa Cruz is the Banana Slug.

Granted, they're not football powers, thank God. Can you imagine an enraged banana slug? [/b][/quote]
I don't see where those colleges' war cries differ from their mascots.

I know the whole story of where they got it. My mother went to UNC. Apparently when the school was first starting out in the NCAA they brought a Ram to the football games and the players kissed one of his horns. The ram, named Ramses, died the year after that season (where the team thought he brought good luck) so the school honored him by making him they're mascot. UNC rules! Except... in... football...

"Well Eli, Smokey just came out of the tunnel, and he's about 100 yards away from me now, and if I had my deer rifle I believe I could drop him, back to you Eli" -- Jerry Duncan's comments to Eli Gold just prior to kickoff against Tennessee
Don't mess with Smokey!! :notnice: :nono:

As Molly Hatchet once sang . . .

“Well I’ve been to Alabama people, ain’t a whole lot to see. Skynyrd says it’s a real “Sweet Homeâ€, but it ain’t nothin’ to me!â€

We won’t talk about the entire nature of the song (Gator Country), or what was said about Tennessee!

You became a Clemson fan in 1966?

Actually, I was born and grew up in Wilmington NC as a Wolfpack fan but when it was time to pick a college I wanted a degree in international relations. Only place in NC that had good program was UNC, and that was out of the question for a Wolfpacker. Next closest place was Columbia, SC.

Yeah, it's the law of averages... But it seems that average isn't too balanced toward the west. Forget about the North/South game... let's bring on the East/West butt-whoopin'!!!
