1. It's called football because the player runs with the ball.
2. Soccer is the worlds most popular sport because the world IS poor.
...and I was joking too, just not about 1 & 2

Really? Ok, well... I'll bite.
Soccer is a yawn fest of too many untalented players who can't hit the broadside of a barn that is called the giant goal, ending in ties too often with a shoot out. How anyone can watch 90 minutes of no scoring, when the goal is 20-30 times the size of the SINGLE PLAYER defending it...
Not to mention the bad acting that causes yellow and red cards. And the fans who can't control themselves, rioting for winning, losing, or no real reason other than the other team's fans show up. And the whole 'build the stadium to protect the players, coaches and refs' thing. I mean, some of them have *moats, fences and RAZORWIRE* built in to keep the fans from attacking, and shields on the benches!
Yep, a truly great sport. I can't speak for the US soccer much, but because of the international... uh, 'flavoring'... of soccer, re: the above, so I am not a fan of soccer period. It just turns me off.
And while I'm at it, Aussie Rules Football is made of more awesome than soccer, hockey, CFL, and yes, even the mighty NFL, combined, in terms of cool, tough, and scoring factors. Bar none.
I get Rugby, but I don't really care for it, as a playstyle. Still, them guys are tough too, hats off to 'em, and I don't not like it, just don't watch it.
/I gotta find some AFL around the internet sometime.
//Soccer gets me riled up.
///Probably some outdated stuff, but whatever. Get off my lawn, etc.

Soccer that is...
Soccer that is...
FOOTBALL is the NFL. As stated, they RUN with the BALL, therefore Football.
SOCCER is that other sport where they don't run WITH the ball, they kick it about, so it's really KICKBALL, and it should be internationally renamed, precedence be darned.
Take yer lumps and be on yer way!
/Came here for an argument, then?

Its kinda interesting to see football which is he real name of football and not soccer. Football started in England and they called it football not soccer so why to use a wrong name for it.... the american version of it can be simply called american football but not simply football. I`m a big fan of football my favorite team is Ac Milan but seems they sold everything this summer... I wanted my team to challenge for champions league but seems now will challenge to qualify from CL groups only.
