Anybody know who's car this is?
Not such a fan of those wheels, but the rest is saweet. The interceptor's still my favourite, but i love the lines on this car, the scoops are all nicely done and the spoiler/ducktail (can't really tell) is nice and subtle.
Now as long as they can find a job for each of those scoops, i'm happy. Not such a fan of tacked on fake scoops. Anybody know what the 3/4 scoops have traditionally been used for? The side scoops are for the brakes right?

i'm guessing this is the front. i like the concept fog lights/turning signals. Whats the deal with the grill lights though. Are they still lights? Random round things with no purpose on the grill would be kinda silly.

Don't hold your breath for functional scoops.

The 3/4 scoops were traditionally used for nothing, as well as the side scoops. They were basically all cosmetic back in the 60's, and i am almost certain they are only cosmetic now too. The only scoop that has ever been (sometimes) functional on Mustangs, is the hood scoop.

By the way, i like the looks of most of this car, but i am not a fan of fake scoops either.

Yeah, I want to know who made that as well. I love the concept look -- especially on the sides.

Functional Scoops or not I'd want them on an '05. They are what make a Mustang a Mustang. granted the scloops are nice too but they aren't aggressive. At least scoops are yah know what I mean.

:R: The front facia is ok, if not too fancy-pants to me, the rest is tacky.

3/4 scoops were used for cabin ventilation and in the 60's on the shelby they were perfectly functional...
and yea the side scoops were for brake cooling...

and 97redsnake... foglight placement on cobras (like the terminator) is for front brake cooling..if you so desire

I think the 3/4 scoops were also a design cue that came off the GT40 and other cars that used them for actually cooling the motor. (Remember mid/rear engines?) Not sure....

3/4 window scoops like those on the shlebys were use to direct air over the small real spoiler. and the fins were used for cabin ventalation, they circulate air through the cabin without a large amount of wind.

ya kevin, i see what you mean about the tacked-on-ness. I really don't like fake scoops, i'm much more into a fast car that doesn't look it, than a slow car that looks fast, so anything lying about being more than it is isn't usually so hot in my books. But i dunno, this thing's sexy. Just look at that rear 3/4 shot! Just cut some holes in the metal, make those scoops pass through to the brakes, or maybe move the engine to the trunk and use the scoops to feed air to it.

I want those scoops!

So this is what I hear, is this accurate?
Car: Pacific West
Bodykit: Xenon

I'm also not a fan of fake scoops, but these are worth it. We could make the side scoops cool brakes, but what about the quarters?

Maybe we could route them to pass air over a sound system in the truck (electronics run better cooler). It would require some way to keep water out and some way to vent everything out the back of the trunk, but that'd be cool.

The original Mustang was designed to have functional side scoops that cooled the brakes but on the 64 and 65 production models it was dropped, probably due to costs. On the 94 - 98 GT and Cobra models the side scoops were again functional, but the V6s didnt have the holes cut out in the fenderwells.

Yeah, the 3/4 scoops on some of the old Shelby's were to direct air for downforce. Sorry, i forgot about that. As for cabin ventilation, that was only on the race cars. The large majority of scoops on production Mustangs have been completely cosmetic.

When i was talking about scoops, i wasn't talking about front grill openings or inlets, like the'03-'04 Cobra's foglight openings. I was talking about side and 3/4 scoops.

And the "functional" part of the side scoops on the '94-'98 GT and Cobra were a joke. I have owned a '94 GT and currently a '97 Cobra. And, yes the scoop has a opening that goes all the way through, and directs a very small amount of air (what gets through the tiny holes of the plastic insert) straight at the rear tires. lol So, if you call that functional, then i guess you are right. However, the "function" of cooling the treads on the tires might be kind of questionable.

In any case, i don't hate scoops on a Mustang, but they are definately not what makes a Mustang a Mustang for me. For those of you who like them, go for it. I'm sure they will look good. I am more of a speak softly, and carry a big stick kind of guy. I like a bit more of a sleeper look, i guess. To each, his (or her) own. Peace.

Youre right the 94 - 97 scoops were marginally functional at best. However, I thought they were better than the fake scoops that replaced them on the 99 - 04 Mustangs. What I do like about the 05 is that instead of nonfunctioning scoops they went with a simple scallop.
