"The limited edition Bullitt GT was available in 2001, paying homage to the 1968 Steve McQueen movie by the same name, in which McQueen's character Lt. Frank Bullitt got behind the wheel of a Highland Green 1968 GT390 Fastback and chased two assassins in a black Dodge Charger R/T. The 2001 Mustang Bullitt GT was available in three colors: Black, the new True Blue, and Dark Highland Green, borrowed from Ford's F-Series lineup. There were 3041 green, 1818 black, and 723 blue Bullitts produced. Dark Highland Green was not available on any other Mustang. Exterior features included a blacked-out corral around the pony in the grille, red brake calipers with a silver Mustang, simpler side scoops, and a brushed aluminum fuel door. Spoilers and fog lamps weren't available on the Bullitt. 2001 Bullitt Mustangs had a retro interior theme. The new seats were designed after seats from the 1960s, and were much more comfortable than the standard seats. The numbers in the gauge cluster were written in a tall, thin font like in the 1960s as well. The shifter was aluminum and the door lock soldiers were silver, as was the shifter trim ring. The Bullitts had a different intake than the GT they were based upon, and the upgrades resulted in an additional five horsepower. The C-pillars were also altered, and "BULLITT" was engraved on the sill plates. Although Ford planned to produced 6500 Bullitts, only 5582 made it off the line."

They also recieved larger Cobra brakes with PBR front callipers and brembo rotors up front, with larger, ventilated rears. They had specific spring rates with Tokiko "blue" dampers. The exhaust was also different from a stock GT, and was finished off with rolled tips. All of them used the Tremec 3650 transmission, the GT's all got it by the later part of 2001 production.

Many of the same parts were spread out over the years on GT's. Obviously the bullitt rims, and the pedal covers and shifter ring with the IUP option on newer mustangs. The Mach has the same shifter ball and gauge cluster(although the interior bezel is silver), same seat bolster sculpting(with different skins), and the rolled rear tips. The bullitt exhaust is also back on the 40th anniversary mustang(but not the intake). Regardless of what the HP#s are, the Bullitt intake and double barrel TB was worth about 20 horsepower, much more when the car is modded.

Its about 6,000 to turn a gt into a bullitt, IF you have a hook up at a ford parts department and do just about everything yourself.

used with pretty low miles. Before i left my sales job we had one on the lot with 8,000 miles that they were selling for 25,000. I think it ended up selling for 23,000. :flag2:

 

if you look hard enough you could find one for less though.

 

I got my brother one fully certified with only 10k miles early last year for under $21k B)

Quiet a few upgrades from the GT providing excellent handling, sleeper exterior, unique and very confortable interior, tuned exhaust, and a blast to drive. The original package was $3,600 and worth every penney. About 70% built were the Dark Highland Green, a color exclusively for the Bullitt. The balance of 5,582 units built were Black and True Blue. The only option was the Mach 460 sound system w/6 CD changer. Going prices are in the +/- $18K range depending on mileage and condition. Thank you. I have looked, and they are a little well driven. I can never trust a clutch I did not break in. I would be too scared everyone was having a bit too much fun with the fun pedals.

I change my blinker fluid every month!!

 

Decipher, you car is efficient, I fill mine once a week... and it costs about $60 to fill up.

And not to take it the wrong way,but what in hades is blinker fluid?


To break in a clutch- drive it off the lot, know what you are doing, don't rag it out, don't grind it to death..... How do I know a used manual I buy off the lot did not belong to some kid who didn't know how to drive, and if they did spent their days abusing it-playing hotrod and not treating the car well? Keeping the car maintained, keeping the filters and fluids fresh. That's why I am scared of new cars.

I have a legitimate reason- my last manual was used, and not a month after I bought it the clutch plate went. It was not cheap to replace either so I kept it one year and bought my current vehicle. Yes, I did go to a snakey car dealer, but I didn't know better at the time. That's why I am trying to do it right this time.
