Wow, is that the plastic factory intake it is blowing into? I am suprised it can handle boost.

They are pretty thick. They've been doing it on LS1 GM's for awhile now with no adverse effects.

It's not very much boost, contrary to what people think, 7-8psi isn't much in terms of atmospheres, it's like the pressure at about 10feet of water. The real boost is seen in the increased compression in the cylinders. There isn't much to be found in the intake itself comparatively.

Good point, not to mention all the people that have been supercharging 96-04 GT's with stock plastic intakes. If those intake's can take the abuse what would make you think the 05 couldn't.

Although I wouldn't want to put anymore than 7 psi on a 05, with 9.8:1 compression anything more than 8 on stock bottom end would be pushing it.

Of course the best way to do it would be to completely forge the bottom end and up the boost to about 12-14 psi :shock:

The only real problem with plastic intakes is with nitrous backfires in wet-type installations where it is simply sprayed into the entire intake, as opposed to more effective direct injection systems.
