SVT Cobra
Can someone please explain to me what exactly the cobra is? Also, how will it affect the mustang in 2007? (i.e. what kinds of modifications are to be expected as well as price increases, etc.)
Thanks in advance,
sikander

Cobra is basically Mustang GT on steroids. More power, more looks, more suspension...more more more.
Also, more money. I'm betting at least $36,000 for the hardtop with verts slammin down the $40k mark.
Lovely to think about, rip roarin on the wallet.

It's cool. I'm only seventeen and have spent most of my time dreaming about the classics, so I don't know too much about what is going on nowadays. *shrug*
In fact, I never cared too much for recent mustangs, until the 2005 concept was revealed
My grandfather will pay about $13,000 towards a new car when I graduate highschool (class of 2006). I'm really hoping to save up for a GT Premium by then... will the prices have dropped any? Which means I could either grab one of the last production 05's, or wait until the 07s are coming out and grab an 06 (and thats entirely IF my current car can last that long).
Of course, I do realize that 13k wont get me a mustang, which is why I plan on paying for the rest of it one way or another
As far as cobras go... maybe when I'm older

$13k for a new car. My friend, you need to check out a used 03/04 Cobra!

If he were my son, I'd like to see him in an 05 V6. The 13K would leave him with nice small payments he could manage with the part-time job he's probably got. If he really wanted to get the GT I'd give him the 13K but I'd throw in an extra grand (or whatever) and enroll him in a good professional driving school.
Sikander, don't be afraid to ask questions here. That's how you find out stuff. However, you might want to do a little research on your own first, so you don't get flamed. There are pics on this site of just about any Mustang ever made, including the Cobra. Looking for them might give you an idea of what kind of styling cues it sports. As for performance, again look around. For one, you can probably find everything you want on Ford's own web site. They're still selling 04 Cobras.
Just some suggestions.
As for the car, save up and get the 05 next spring and you won't have the long wait for what you want and you won't get nailed by sales people who want to take advantage of those of us who are obsessed with having the new model NOW!
Keep your grades up - you'll need that good student discount too!

As far as driving goes, I more or less know how to handle a high-powered car in a relatively responsible manner (and I'm not trying to brag, folks). However, I appreciate the concern!... but now that i think of it, learning how to drift and master the stickshift is exactly what i want to do, if thats what you mean by professional driving school. (handling the car, not rules of the road
)Truth be told, I'd be absolutely ecstatic with the GT! After all, I wouldn't get much of a chance to (legally) use the added performance of a cobra, not to mention the fact that my current car might not last another year even (so waiting isnt really an option).
Spring GTs are starting to sound really sweet
And my grandfather would absolutely refuse to buy me a cobra... but the thought of one sure does make me

umm just for clarification. The cobra will be a 3rd model of the mustang, they will still sell GT's in 07, so there isnt much in waiting until the 07s are coming out to buy an 06. (unless of course you need more time to get money)

And who said he hasn't been driving shifter carts since he was 10?
My first car went 11.70's in the quarter and I drove it to school everyday. Plus, wtih 13k to burn on a "down payment" I am sure they could swing the insurance.
17 and class of '06? odd, I'm 17 too, but class of '05.
ANYWAYS. that 13 grand could easily take you far into a nice v6, something that would be easier to handle (TRUST ME, I know how teenagers drive from experience...::twitch:
and still would have good pickup, good looks, good handling, and better mileage. Of Course, everyone WANTS a GT or a Cobra or a Mach or what have you, but the v6 is the more reasonable choice
Don't worry, they're still fun (judging from experience with an 04 3.9, 5 spd)
