Will Ford keep the GT500 concept's full leather interior shown in New York in the final production car, or do you think it has fallen under the bean counters' axe?
You mean the dash? I can't imagine that making it.
The seats will be two-toned leather though -- that's all I would expect.
(BTW, mules would not have it as they are strictly for testing. Pre-production cars should though).
Typical Ford mentality -- make it as cheap as possible.
Too bad they don't see how it effects the brand (and consequently sales) in the long run.

I don't know they kept a lot of nice features it may make it. What I don't understand is how we don't pics and final specs on the coupe..... Lord knows we know about everything years in advance. The wait is killing me.
I don't think they'll keep it, but wish they would. Its not THAT unreasonable to expect it.
Otherwise, it just won't be that much different from a GT in the interior and adding one more reason that charging 10-15K more for a shelby is a waste of money.
Yes, I'm getting jaded to the whole affair :P

I guess we'll know soon enough. Given Ford's history, I tend to think it's been nuked too, and frankly, it really angers me cause I've been waiting for this Shelby for a long time now...and the final result is pretty disappointing.
It also bothers me no end that HTT said in a magazine that the Shelby would NOT suffer from bait and switch (he was VERY specific about this in the piece) - and then the first thing they do is pull a bait and switch by de-contenting a car that wasn't overly spectacular (though acceptable) in concept form.
This cuts to their corporate philosophy, is seems, and is really starting to turn me against the brand.
I suspect I'll be waiting to see what they do with an SE - or jump ship to a Challenger if it's close to the concept DCX is showing off.

I don't think we'll see it but its not a major deal to myself. Sure it would be nice but I'm more focused on the performance end of the car than the interior. I'm the type of person that usually personalizes the interior to my liking anyway.
What I loved was the suede inserts in the 10th Anniversary Cobra's. Very comfy.
I gotta admit, Jeffrey. I'm not one to usually be jaded but that King Ranch interior has me spoiled

It just cracks me up that all of you guys are jaded, or disappointed or convinced that the car isn't worth buying when you haven't seen the specs/content, seen the car yet, driven it yet or even seen/heard what other people think of it.
I realize that things are leaking that it will or won't have this or that, but, wait until you know what it is before you crucify it.

I also hope that the dash stays with the leather covering. That would definitely bring the class up a little bit with the interior, and I like the way it looks. ..and before anyone says I should care about the performance and not the interior...I want both.
I also want the Leather dash and trim. The Mustang needs that upgrade in class. I'm just as edgy as the guys threatening to jump ship. We are so close. Why not wait and see what Ford has in store for us.
I think the Dash and door panels will be gone. I think the seats, steering wheel and console will have the leather with colored stitching.
I also think the car will have over 500 hp (probably officially rated 475) that will grow to 550 with basic airflow and tuning mods. Milstang, I know what you are saying, me too.

I'm still excited to see the production GT500 and think it will be an awesome machine, particularly in the straightline acceleration arena but for me personally I'd rather have a Boss version of the S197.

I don't think luxury interiors are what the mustang is all about, but I guess I'm in the minority these days.
My car will have cloth seats, no IUP, and maybe a real oil pressure and temperature gage sitting in the center stack somewhere.

Looking at it from a Bean Counters perspective and the penchant for the people who buy the high performance mustangs and then modify them and then complain when Ford will not fix them under warranty, I can understand why they would remove leather. I live in Arizona and am concerned about the upkeep of the leather dash. The seats are not too bad to take care of, but even with a sun shade the dash is going to take a beating and result in a lot of cracking that all of us will moan about and want it repaired under warranty. So I can definitely understand if the leather does not show up on the dash or the door panels.
