I wish I could say, but I made a promise. Pepole have already been fired over some of the leaks made on the internet.

A good indication for it being a Shelby rather than a Cobra is why this forum is "Shelby by SVT", a point I made a few days ago. It is either a very premature hunch or someone around here knows a bit more than willing to share. My bet is on the latter. So we Cobra fans are in for a sad disappointment.

Yes..please blink..please
Mystic Cobra posted this over in The Rumor Mill.
Adrenalin Artice.
Notice it calls it the Ford Shelby Cobra GT500. No mention of SVT in the name. Maybe I am reading too much into it, but, that is interesting.
Adrenalin Artice.
Adrenalin showcases Ford's plans to produce in 2007 the first sport truck offering the combination of uncompromised utility, four-passenger capability and true performance. Along with the Ford Shelby Cobra GT500 - which will go on sale in 2006
I can't believe all of this venom for Carroll Shelby!
All performance Mustangs can trace their roots back to the Shelby 350R. There would be no Cobra, Ford GT, and SVT without Carroll Shelby.
You guys all portray him as some money grubbing old man but how many of you have ever met the man? I met him at SEMA and at the 40th Anniversary and I can tell you that he was gracious with his time and accomodated every request for autographs and pictures.
Which car will be worth more 10-20 years from now at Barrett Jackson? An SVT Cobra or a Shelby Cobra GT500? Would you rather have a run of the mill base Corvette at 400HP or a Shelby Cobra GT500 at 450+ HP?
Let's give Ford some credit for not pimping his name. They didn't slap the Shelby name on the Sport Trac. Everything that they've done with Shelby in recent years (Ford GT, Cobra Concept, GR1, and now this Mustang) have all been consistent with his legacy.
I for one think the Shelby Cobra GT500 looks awesome and I hope it drives half as well as it looks.

I'm on vacation, too. I have been checking this site every 15 minutes for the last 24hr. one of the other articles said they expected Shelby info released at MN tonight. I know where I'll be at midnight.
I just hope it doesnt look like that one in the MotorTrend article where they were saying that was the shelby mustang, the one that was white with blue stripes....I didnt really like that at all. Hope the fog lights are down low like the concept to more distinguish it from the gt.
MT made that rendering over a year ago. They were like "this quick rendering by one of our artists gives an idea of what how good a shelby version of this stang would look" or something like that. It was never intended to be a very accurate rendering of what we're gonna see this week.

This is a joke right? Did you (and matic) seriously just suggest Ford relegate the legendary Shelby name to a letter tacked onto the end of "SVT"?
I appreciate SVT and what they've done on recent Fords, and I can even understand them having a loyal fanbase. But come on, Shelby and SVT aren't even on the same level. SVT is maybe on the same level as BMW M and AMG, that's even arguable. The correct answer here (IMO) is to make a new division under FoMoCo called Shelby-American. Do Shelby Mustangs, a new Cobra, and the GR-1 (Call it the Daytona Coupe please). And, while I can appreciate people having grown attached to SVT Cobra's being in the line-up, if the Shelby name starts appearing on new Ford's and there's a separate SVT Mustang they need to find a new name for it. Because in all seriousness, no one has more right to that name than Shelby, that's not even debatable. That being said, it would be cool to pop the hood on every Shelby and have the valve covers read: "Powered by Ford SVT".
I'm not trying to rag on SVT, their cars are awesome (I even dig the SVT Contour), but let me ask all the pro-SVT guys a question:
What name is more significant on a Mustang, Shelby or SVT? That I even have to ask this on a Mustang devoted website is kind of depressing.

I wish that SVT and Shelby do not emerge as one entity, but it's not up to me. I was throwing that stement out there because that was a possible senario that I liked out of all others so far. Next time, I'll just keep my comments to myself not to disrupt you're superior intellect. My only problem w/ the new division under FoMoCo called Shelby-American is that S-A is already a company that built the Shelby Series 1 car. Which put up slower # than what were expected, for the price is was listed at.
Let Shelby and Ford do a Shelby Mustang in-house or where ever, I really don't care. In fact, I would love to see Shelby put into action to work out some kind of deal w/ Ford to be like SVT or Saleen or Roush and let him/them do a Shelby Mustang and Shelby GR-1 coupe and a Shelby Cobra roadster and......
I'm not a pro-SVT guy but if I had to choose something, I'd probally be pro-Saleen, and to answer your question, IF it were a '65-'69 mustang, Shelby. IF it were a '93-'04, SVT.
You stated that you're not ragging on SVT, but you wouldn't really notice, so I would hate to see what's on your mind when you do.
