Roush Stage 3 Mustang GT in Mustang Enthusiast mag
#1
Just read the article on the Roush Stage 3 Mustang GT in the February 2006 issue of Mustang Enthusiast magazine. Am I missing something here? Towards the back of the article, they did a little dragstrip testing. To quote the article:
"On a sunny day at the Mid-Michigan Motorplex during the weekend of the Pure Stock Drags, we put manual transmission ace Jimmy Johnston behind the wheel. Jimmmy is one of the best four-speed drivers we've ever seen...."
It goes on to show that Jimmy's best ET was 13.52 @ 104.68 mph. That's it?!?!?!
What really makes this ironic is the fact that I was there that day (runnin' low 13's with the STi), along with my friends Chris and his Grand Prix GTP (low 13's that day) and John and his '05 V6 Mustang (ran a 14 flat that day). We saw this car run. With different drivers in it, it was running mid to high 14's. We were totally stunned that a supercharged '05 GT was running so slow. We also were NOT impressed with the way he was ripping around in the parking area and return lanes.
Anyway, for $50K, I would expect more from such a car. Heck, I've seen '05 GT's running quicker than that with basic bolt-ons. Even my friend John's V6 which, at the time, had only gears, a CAI, a mild tune and a 75hp shot Zex setup, ran a 14.00. And that was under the same track conditions and his very first time at the dragstrip.
Hopefully that was just a fluke. But the way ME magazine was bragging it up (even on the cover), I was not really impressed.

Wow that's interesting.......
I have gotten a few issues of this magazine and truthfully, wasn't that impressed by the quality of it......
Some of the typesetting looked like it had been done for a college newspaper.....
