Roush Sport vs. Roush Stage 1
Hello all, new to this forum!
I'm getting ready to "pull the trigger" and order a 2005 Roush Mustang. There are currently two options. A Sport version and a Stage 1 version. Here are the four differences...
1. Wheel / Tire Package
- Stage 1 - 18" Roush Wheels
- Sport - 17" Ford GT Painted Wheels
2. Decklid Emblem
- Stage 1 - The number "1" in the middle with the word Stage below
- Sport - Ford GT emblem
3. Tool Kit
- Stage 1 - included (Note - Per Roush on 03/11/05 these are NOT available yet)
- Sport - None
4. Dash Signature Emblem (Jack Roush & Serial #)
- Stage 1 - included
- SPort - None
Stage 1 Price: $8750.00 Sport Price: $6731.00 Difference: $2019.00
I'm purchasing this vehicle from an occasional use / collector standpoint. With this in mind, which one would you buy?
BTW, either version will take 3-4 months to complete. This will give me the time I need to finish my 65 Coupe project. Hence the screen name 65AND05.
Thanks,
Jim

Yeah, from the collector stand point I think the Stage 1 will be a better way to go. However, I am not to sold on the Roush wheels even though they are 18's. The chrome version of the 17" GT's with the "Spinners" appeal to me more. Ford wants $1295.00 for these but would let me keep the painted ones and just remount the tires. Do you know if Roush has ever offered a "Sport" version before 2005 or have they all been Stage 1 thru 3?
Thanks,
Jim
Thanks,

hello
is roush stage 1 price tag include labor as well?
so, if your GT is about $28K, a roush stage 1 package would make it roughly $36-37K?
the reason why i am asking is that saleen is roughly $42K range.
Does saleen give you more than roush? does roush do the intake, cat back exhaust, and susension?
thanks!

Yep. Check here: Sport package
WaldenNYC,
Here are the Roush Mustang prices. (I've been researching / calculating / trying to decide for 10 days now!)
Mustang GT - Work your best deal with a Roush Authorized Ford dealer, then add which Roush equipment you want as follows;

I was quoted $8750 instead of $8700 like the PDF shows. I guess "prices are subject to change" applies here. All of the other option prices are correct as of 03/14/05 as quoted by my local Ford dealer.
The base price of the Sport version is $6731 but does NOT include the 4 items mentioned above. The price DOES includes labor on both versions but there is a $600 transportation fee in addition to the Ford $625 transportation fee. I've priced out the car 5 different ways and it ranges from 36.5k to 40.1k BEFORE TT&L for the ways I would like to have the car built.
Quote from their web site....
"Stage 2's are set to begin build on January 15 and Stage 3's will be sometime in May/June. The projected HP numbers for the Stage 3 will be over 400. Pricing will be released the second week of November."
Like Ford, Roush is behind.
On the Saleen's...
I've seen 5 Saleen's in person and they just do not appeal to me. IMO, they took away two classic looks of the Mustang. 1. No pony on their grill. 2. No tri-bar taillights (the inner bars are covered only exposing the backup light). And yes, they start at $42k and go up from there.
Zc527,
I've driven the Roush Sport with 300 HP. This is plenty of HP for me from a collector's standpoint. I'm assuming the Stage 3's will push $50k???
Thanks,
Jim
