Oh Boy...Another "SE"

2008 Patriot American Flag Edition Mustang

"At Saleen we value our military servicemen and women as they defend our country at home and abroad. They repesent the true pride and strength of America and as America's premiere niche vehicle manufacturer, Saleen wants to salute them. So, as a way to say welcome home to our troops Saleen will build 24 special edition S281 Supercharged cars in Red, White and Blue (8 vehicles per color)"

8 vehicles per color...so these rare cars are going to what?

a.) Be given to some military personnel?
b.) Be raffled off and the funds donated to disabled vets?

Or....

c.) Be sold for a premium to collectors that can only afford the expensive price?

d.) I don't want to know most likely...

I don't mind people doing "special" things for miltary folks, and no not because I am one, but ... I will wait for futher info before I say more.

It's starting to look to me like Saleen might have "jumped the shark" with
a few too many SE's and I even own one.

I agree. It looks like the only "mission" of this car is to line Saleen's pockets.

Well you are saying basically what I thought. Not to many military can afford these and there will be far to few to be sold for the common soldier/sailor/etc.

Oh well.

I have an idea. How about a SE with a base price of about 24K, 330-350hp, choice of transmissions with atleast 3.55 rear gears, nice gauge package, 3100-3200 lbs. curb weight and a base interior with only the options the customer wants. If you dont want the fru fru like power windows, power locks, CD changes ect you don't have to buy them. Hell for the serious guy make AC optional. If you do want more creature comforts buy a GT or one of the bazillion expensive SE models out there. Less weight, lower price and alot more HP for the money. Wasn't that what the original musclecar was all about. Call it the "AFFORDABLE SE" package. I know this will never happen but I wonder how many thousands more Mustangs Ford would be selling now?

The whole premise is :gay:

unless they are "saluting" the servicemen and woman by offering the car only to them, and for a price they can afford all this does is make me never want to buy a saleen.
