New Saleen in the works H281

Needs to be more Astony
Here's the lastest, my request for a Grabber Orange H281 has now
become a limited run of no more than 20 coupes.
I get the first one being built with an auto, (old back injury keeps me away from clutches) and the rest will be 5 spd cars.
Got a copy of my broadcast sheet yesterday and my coupe is at SSV
just waiting it's turn.
Marcello, I wonder if this fuel door is for the whole run
or just the 20 GO cars?

Congrats! Nice on getting what you want as well as having it in a limited Edition. Saleen hit the mark with the PJ. Seen it at the AutoShow here recently and it is the nicest one they had made yet. Smart move on Saleen's part by marketing off the PJ theme. In doing what Shelby is with their many Editions and Roush with their Stages and Limited Run cars, Saleen is just answering to the Market IMO.

Thanks Stangette, the need for auto trans left me with fewer choices,
so I'm glad to get this one built.
Tried for over 6 month to get an auto version of the PJ with no luck.
(Heard that the engine control S/W wasn't designed to work with an auto.)
So when they threw this ol' dog a bone, and I was glad to take it.
Happy too that Saleen is putting more focus on the Mustang again, now
that the S7's time is about up.
The air bag exemption for the S7 runs out soon, I think.

My sources are telling me all production Heritage cars, although I'm not sure if this will be a running change as they are available or what... word is there are a couple in different finishes floating around out in CA...

As for the S-7; - that will always be the mark of a supercar. A friend of mine has an Acura NSX 1994 with the similar lines to the S-7, and it looks so exotic without being stereotypical. Then, he put SVT style 18" chrome rims on his black NSX and lowered it and it is the hotness.

Thanks Marcello--now there something else to look forward to seeing.
The PJ cap is nice, wonder what the H281 design will look like?
Stangette--strongily agree with the exterior designs of the PJ and H281.
Reminds me of the more subtle bodywork changes of the old Fox Saleens.

Joe, I'm with you on that. That is the only part I want from the PJ car. That and the Watts Linkage rear suspension, lol. With the front bumper from the PJ, it has that small black chin spoiler that looks great. Perfect for the cars. And I won't even need to paint it.

STEVE SALEEN RETIRES FROM SALEEN INC.
IRVINE, CALIF., MAY 14, 2007 - Steve Saleen, founder and vice chairman of the board at Saleen Inc., today announced his official retirement from the company's executive team. After years of planning, Mr. Saleen will take a greater step back from the company's day-to-day operations to act as corporate spokesperson and ambassador for the brand.
"I have a vested interest in the company's future and intend to remain involved," said Steve Saleen. "I take great pride in knowing I have assembled a team of the most talented and innovative professionals in the industry. Each person at Saleen has helped me achieve my dream and will help to continue my legacy into the next generation of Saleen products and services."
As founder and a major shareholder in the company, Mr. Saleen will continue to influence product design and development activities, as well as its branding strategies and promotional efforts.

IMO, up to the PJ, the Fox Bodies are the nicest looking Saleens. There was a white Saleen Fox at the FFW Car Show in Houston last weekend and she was immaculate. Had a striking look to her and to see Fox's in this kind of condition is getting rare.

Looks like production may have started today as the Saleen SSV shop was waiting for
their supplier to finish and ship the first batch of front facias.
(Called our area Saleen rep earlier this week and got this info.)
And nope, the 5.0L PJ engine is not an option.
...But if you offer enough money, and there is one available, you might
be able to get the SpeedLab (aftermarket side) shop to install one.
That's how I'm getting the PJ's 14" front disc brake upgrade installed which is not an H281 option.
After my car finishes the H281 production assembly, it will be
moved over to the SpeedLab shop for the brake install.
So I'll get two bills, one for the H281 and another for the brake upgrade.

Is it also doing a side trip to Saleen's SpeedLab shop?
Maybe this can answer the 5.0L add-on question?
Or maybe an unique color, I had thought about Grabber Blue,
but the $15,000 custom paint charge ended that idea.

Mark--that's about right, maybe a grand higher.
The base is less if you want it w/o the louvers and side glass covers.
Seems like some of the stuff can be added or deleted--sort of a
build it your own way program.
My final price is kinda hosed up between the SpeedLab work and the auto tranny has it around the $45-46k range, I think.
I keep trying to add something different each week, so the final
price is a moving target.
It's almost like dealing with the old Saleen Autosports of the 80's again.
You order the base car and then have it custom modified before delivery.

....Hmmmm, okay, so is it an H model (that makes sense with the 25th production date.) being built at SSV Troy?
