They might have a change of heart when the interest starts piling on. Low sales and magically they become very subservient. They better start thinking about watering Mr. Greenspan's beak, that's the only way they keep the prime rate down.

It's going to be alright for us guys. Trust me on this one. I've gone through this a few times.

Have you guys noticed every time a new car comes out the press labels it better than breathing, eating, or having sex and smoking a cigarette afterwards?

Well George I hope you're right. Patience paid off withe Mach 1. Hopefully it will with the Shelby.

Welp when this car was introduced the other week I told all of you the dealers were gonna gouge you..I conservatively said 10K but to me 25K is no suprise. The sad thing about it is the dealers wont learn from thier mistakes...but why should they when they will definitly find some sucker to pay 10-25K over MSRP

I bet in two years you will be able to pick them up relatively cheap. Although all that would change if Shelby died. Then you could expect the price to triple over night and Barrett Jackson auctioning them for 500K each

In the span of a week, I've gone from elation to disgust....I'm not real optimistic about the availability and expect ridiculous ADM everywhere. I refuse to over pay for a depreciating asset. I waited out the 05's, guess I'll wait out this one too. Looks like I'll place my order in the fall of 06...but only time will tell

Besides, my Bullitt is paid off and only has 33K on the odometer

:bang:

I feel exactly the same way. I too was very excited, but now think that the GT500 will be overpriced for my taste. I will not pay MSRP or above. So I may have to do without a GT500.

I've got about 18 mos before I'm in the market anyway, so hopefully there will be a more "reasonable" SE option revealed by then.

Apple Ford, has been known to be pretty ridiculous when it comes to mustang pricing. They were pricing the verts 7K over sticker, and the couples were i believe 5K (hence the reason they had two identical gray ones still sitting there). Apple Ford, doesnt move very much volume in the D.C. Region, so they are relying on schmoes to make some profit. They do a lot of custom stuff. Sherrod Vans, and F-150's, and Nascar F-150's etc....

I seriously doubt many, if any, will go for 10K over sticker, let alone 25k. People are zealous, but, not that stupid. Who would be dumb enough to lose 25K right as soon as you leave the lot?

I also can't believe it could be more than a few hundred cars going for that +25K price, I'll just go get a Vette and save money. And you don't know how it pains me to say that, but I will if I have to.

Or the same people paying $150K over sticker for a Ford GT that are now angry due to their new Speedy sleeve installed on their supercar...

Plus the 10% auction fee and Uncle Sam's share. That's laughable. He better hope the new cowl is made of fiberglass.

I love Mustangs, but with half a mil to blow on a car it would be on the Porche Carrera GT or Ferrari Enzo.

Why don't a couple of you send Apple Ford an email on how you feel about the gouging..

Phone: (410) 290-1100
Fax: (410) 290-1540
Email: sales@appleford.com

That's the worst thing I've ever heard. This car will be made for more then 1 model year, and as bad as I want one, I will wait 2-3 extra years and get one for the true cost of the car.

It's bad enough on the gouging on the Ford GT, but an SVT Cobra? Please!
E-mail sent. I doubt i'll get a reply.....

Bottom line is never pay more than MSRP. Look at the Thunderbird. Local dealers here were asking $10,000 over... and today they sit on lots collecting dust. Ford blew that one. Wanta pay over MSRP for a Type 10 Cavalier? Chevy dealer in Vegas was marking up those cars (in the 70s!).
Lincoln dealer has my old LS on the used car lot asking $19,995 - it's a V6 '03. Been there since September. That's 7 months. Deep pockets, I guess. The customer usually wins -- make that the smart customer.

I received this from a dealer to which I had inquired on a GT500 waiting list...

Ever since the GT 500 info. hit the net and the car has been shown at the New York Auto Show we have been bombarded with inquires and order requests. We are now at this time organizing the list and taking deposits to secure spots on the list in hopes of sifting out those who will actually be able to get their hands on one. We are planning on having 15 GT 500s to sell. At this time we are requiring a $1,000 deposit which will hold your spot and the price will be no less than $25,000 over MSRP. Production will be around 7,500 total for 2007. You may stop by anytime to leave your deposit and secure your spot in history for what will be the hottest, baddest, muscle car ever to hit the road!
I replied...
Go ahead and remove me from your "list". $25000 over MSRP...that's the funniest thing I've heard in a long time...and $1000 to be on the list to boot!
I'll have to share this with my friends on the net. I'm sure they'll appreciate me letting them know which dealer to avoid in this region.
That's either the funniest or stupidist thing I've ever heard.

For $25K US and a 20% or so exchange rate, you could travel to Canada where this kind of dealership price gouging is strictly forbidden, buy one at MSRP, travel around for a month or so in your new car, then come home and pay the duty and still have money in the bank!

...and it seems the number of those mentally challenged people is growing.

I'm beginning to wonder if monetary wealth and cranial functions are inversely related.

I've yet to receive a reply. It would be great if a bunch of you would send an email. At least then they'll realize that their actions have some consequence.

Robert, dealers can't gouge in Canada? Is there a law that they can't go above MSRP?

I have a feeling this is gonna stink. I haven't been put on any list yet because I don't know exactly how much it'll be, and my payments on my truck aren't done till around June/July of next year. When the pricing and approx. delivery dates are announced, between the demand, limited production, and price gouging I find it unlikely I'll be able to get the car. Lets just hope they raise production to fill orders, at least then some of us will have a shot.

Man 25 Big Ones OVER MSRP???????????? They said that with a straight face??? You gotta be kidding, right? I'm going to call these Apple Valley guys and see for myself what they are doing. I don't want their $65,000 crap PLUS $4550 tax total $69550. :notnice: :notnice: :notnice: There are lots of other viable options, get a 06 GT pocket the difference or mod it. Get a Vette. Find a dealer that is MSRP somewhere in the US. You can travel pretty far for $25 Large!!!

As much as I like Mustangs, if I were going to have to pay $65k to get a GT500 I'd probably opt for a C6 Z06 instead...

There is no way in I'm paying anything over sticker for the Shelby. I have contacted several dealers and I'm on the list for Jacky Jones Ford in Cleveland GA, the salesman stated they don't charge over sticker for any car. They also don't require any deposit until the order is actually placed next year. Apple Ford is full of I hope they don't sell a single Shelby. Crooked dealers make me
