Wonder if they chose to infact incorporate the SHELBY letters as on the concept, and use different decklids....
(as the third brakelight was in the ducktail)

Or...find another way to put the shelby lettering on and keep the stock decklid

Thankfully they are keeping the SNAKE emblem though, so as not to confuse it with an old Dodge Shelby something-or-other.

"Mustang" and "Cobra" never did make sense name wise combining two very different species.

The Cobra emblem remains...and the S H E L B Y letters remain across the back. It's 1967 again.

OK, me happy.

Now just build enough of the friggin' things, Ford! :bang:

This should make the price $40K.. I mean, if you cant leagally call it a Cobra, I dont know whose gonna pay $55K for it..

Buyer says to salesman.. "You mean, for $55K, I cant even legally call this thing a Cobra?"

We shall all have GT500's now!! This is great news!!

I don't think the Cobra name wil influence price nearly as much as the Shelby name will.

Lets face it SVT Mustang Shelby Cobra GT500 was a stupid name to begin with.

Simple always = better.

Drop the Shelby name, lower the price by $5K and call the stupid thing the Mustang GT500.

Agreed, or leave the price the same, drop the name and give us some more options....like a really nice hood and premium interior components....I would have said an IRS but I ain't no snob...

basically this car will be marked up almost 200% because of the name and there will be morons in line to buy it at that price. Bloody clowns just have no clue.
Everyone seems to think because Sheblys name is on it the darn thing will be worth a mint. well i hate to burst all your bubbles but it wont be worth jack. Just like everything else that is New with his name.

The old Shelbys are expensive because they are rare. (the idiot that payed a zillion space bucks for the GT500E is the rare exception but that just shows that money and common sence aren't mutually exclusive.)

But hey each to his own..personally if i was able to get one..it's be stripped of all badging and repainted but that's just me. OH and I'd get it used too because i wont pay those insane dealer markups for what is basically a mustang with a supercharger and a body kit.

Umm it says it doesn't mean it won't be used on another ford product... Does this mean a mid-way cobra between shelby and gt? Or something like a torino?

I don't like the idea of them taking off the cobra name. I grew up seeing the mustang Cobras, not the Shelby Mustang GT500. I have always wanted to get a Mustang Cobra, especially when my brother got his 03 Cobra. Ever since I saw the next SVT Mustang, which is the Shelby Cobra GT500, I've been planning on getting it.

I wouln't mind it having the Shelby name as long as they keep the Cobra on it. If they plan on removing a part of the name take off the Shelby. This Car is really a SVT Mustang Cobra not a Shelby Mustang GT500. The Shelby part of this car is only the stripes and emblems, everything else is really SVT. All they want to do is make more money by calling it a Shelby.

If I could get a classic Shelby GT500 I would get it, who wouldn't want one. But since I want to get the top of the line 2007 Mustang, I want it to have Cobra in it, like I said I wouldn't mind it also saying Shelby on it, It would actually make the Cobra even more special if it said Shelby. If they want to make a different Cobra model, make a "R" or a "GT500KR".

Please Ford, don't mess this one up.
