THey are probably functional "heat extractor vents" like the 2004 cobra has.

They are functional as intended to extract heat from engine bay.

They are also functional to alleviate air pressure under the hood. That is a problem they have had in the race cars with the hoods popping off. Some of the '05 owners have complained of hood lift at speeds of about 80 or so.
