Anyone disappointed?

Didn't the 60s Shelbys have black mirrors and cool stripes? I'm also sure it will take two minutes to buy a 1/4 window scoop or louver for this car if you want.

As for the side scoop problem, I'm a little let down that SVT didn't take the time to engineer and design funcitonal working brake scoops as how Carroll Shelby did himself when he imagined them back in '65. Rather than just bolting on scoops just for looks. Still one heck of a car!

What everyones missing in the pic. is that the poster in the back ground of the red car next to a poster of a blue Shelby is the SVT Mustang/Cobra. All thats missing on the red car is the strips and the front chin spoiler, Which leds me to believe the Shelby is an option package

You wish.
yeah shkbtn99, right here from the Ville myself
we're takin' it all- but washington will be tough
now, I agree with you all that the cobra will be very powerful and affordable, but I guess what i'm getting at is that this whole shelby thing is too fake for me
at first, i was excited to hear Carroll was back at ford, but now I say leave the shelbys where they really belong-65-70...

Blue picture is probably just one of the conceptual printouts. I have an old picture (3-4 years or so) of the C6 Corvette concept board in the clay/design area. They had pictures of different models/styling ideas ect .....
They even had some pictures of competitor(Porsche) cars just for design comparison. The drawing on the wall probably mean very little. If anything my guess is one is the striped car and the other is without stripes.

anaki, I like that a lot better, Ill just have the mirrors painted like i did on my 02. If this is an option, which i doubt, then the regular one (if the same power output) would save me a lot of money!

i dont understand how you are upset with the styling.....it looks like a cobra has always looked, very similar to the base mustang with a slightly more aggressive look and bigger wheels.....it is exactly that....those of you that want more "stuff" appearence wise will probably be the first to complain that its too expensive....ford built another winner and i cant wait to purchase mine....my decision to not get an 05 GT and wait for the cobra is now officially a good decicion!!! thank you ford/svt/shelby and anyone else that had a part in this car because it is amazing!!!
Some of you guys kill me! This is what everyone has been asking for. A Mustang with a 5.4, better blower, much more hp and tq. Not to mention this thing is going to make insane hp and tq with minor mods. You are getting 19" wheels, 14" Brembo's in the front and 13" in the rear. The car looks perfect IMO, not overdone, just a touch of old school Shelby and alot of motor, suspension, and brakes. Come on guys, this is an amazing car, especially if it comes in under 40k.
I think this is just a base model, to see what reactions occur, maybe the big suprise is another svt version.... I think things will change by time its manufactured...
as for me I'll take a legend lime...

All the Shelby is going to be is a dressed up SVT Mustang. Why pay more money for some strips and a name?

You'll find out tomorrow.
Overall...I have to say I like the look. It looks understated, but yet has a performance aura about it. No crazy scoops, no fake add-ons...nothing to distract from the car's purpose.
Engineering wise...I have to give Ford a B for effort, C for execution. As everybody sure knows, I've been railing at Ford for first not offering IRS in the Mustang GT, and now for not offering in the Cobra or Shelby or whatever it is. Especially when the price of entry is 40 grand minimum. I can't understand how Ford can offer a six speed auto and IRS that can handle a 390 hp supercharged V-8 in a truck, but yet get their panties all in a bunch when the idea of putting IRS into a Mustang is brought up
Yeah, 450 hp is great, though I honestly think Ford is kind of going overboard with hp. But like I said, for 40 grand, it's not all about horsepower (at least for me, and I know I'm in the minority).
It's hard enough convincing people that an F350 XLT Diesel is worth 40,000. Now they want me to convince people that a stick axle Mustang is worth 40K, especially when you're talking of monthly payments of close to 700/month.
