I just wonder how dealerships are setting pricing for this car before Ford does.

I don't know what other people out there will do, but in my case, as a matter of pure principle, I will never buy a car over MSRP under any circumstance...

This is just a thought, but SVT dealers sign a two-year contract. Everyone's contract will expire before the Shelby Cobra GT500 hits the lots, so they will all have to apply again. If there are enough complaints to Ford about the dealerships that are price gouging, they may not be awarded an SVT branding and won't get ANY GT500s.
It the consumers that set the price, not the dealerships. As long as someone is willing to spend $65k, the dealerships will charge it. Evey new car starts with a huge mark-up...wait a few months and you'll be able to get your GT500 for mid 30's.
Would it do any good to inform SVT of these ridiculous prices. On another website they are suggesting that some fax SVT and give them ideas on some changes or extra features some may want on the car since it is not yet in production there is still time for some change. I was going to send a fax out just for the heck of it, it can't hurt so i may just mention the price gouging thats going on.

...and what difference would that make? ANY Ford dealer can sell the SVT Shelby......it's not limited to SVT dealers only.

It is limited to only SVT dealers.
$75,000? What are you smoking?
I honestly think Ford could set MSRP as high as $45,000 and sell alot.
Ford needs to produce enough so dealers will not be able to gouge the consumer for the whole year.
In my opinion, Ford will carefully limit production to keep the car from falling below MSRP.

How do you figure that? SVT products are only sold through SVT certified dealerships last time I checked!

its gonna be just like the mustang gt all the people that spent $5k over MSRP will ruin it for the rest

Conclusion: I wish every person looking to buy a car would understand that it's not a good thing to keep feeding gready dealers. They already have their profit at MSRP, let's try not to spoil the market for all other buyers.
Even if my name was Bill Gates I wouldn't spend a dime over MSRP for a car...

Phil Long Ford in Colorado Springs says they will offer the cobra for about 65 grand

I would dearly love to have one, and if I could find one for sub 40k I could get it, but at 40+ they arent a very good deal and if I was going to spring 65+ on a car, I think I'd be eyeing a Z06 vette.
