"With the 2010 Ford Mustang set to be unveiled in November, time is running out for tuners to put out special edition Mustangs. Saleen seems to have saved its best for last and will be unveiling a "Dark Horse" Mustang next week. The super-Stang will feature the 620 horsepower V8 from the S302 Extreme plus the SuperShaker system that combines a functional ram air system with Saleen's twin-screw supercharger system - a first for a Saleen production car. The "Dark Horse" will sport the Heritage body style and have additional features exclusive to the model. Production will begin in the Fall of 2008, and only 25 will be produced. Our best guess for the "Dark Horse" moniker is that the car will feature an all matte-black paint scheme. We'll bring you all the details of the car after its official debut next week."

Our own RRobello went to yesterday's debut for TheMustangSource.com. Here's what he found:

Price:$90k
They are adding this to the lineup but some of the 08 models wont be done in 09 as they were limited runs as this one will be; eg. the Heritage. So both the CEO and I tried to count the 09 models and it is about the same number just different limited editions.
According to the CEO he said that they havent had any problems with dealers trying to mark up their cars so they dont see a problem with introducing another highend SE. I guess he never has been to a dealership trying to buy a saleen before lol.
As for introducing a Saleen model for 2010 I was told that they will have one ASAP. Most likely the first version will be a Racecraft which makes sense cuz its basically just performance upgrades and that seems to be for the most part something that will carry over from the current s197 based on looking at how similar they look.

I like it! The price is crazy though. $90k? For a Mustang? Really? I guess there are 25 people out there in the world that would pay that.

I love it, too, but what's not to like about 620 HP and 600 feet pounds of torque??? I'm pleased that there's less of the Saleen bodywork than on other Saleen Mustangs--I don't get off on body mods when there's a crisp, sleek Mustang within that's struggling to shed all the carbon fiber BS and kick some **** (See Boomer. See Boomer grab his Webster's Unabridged and start thumbin' through the "A" pages)! Puh-lease, Saleen, quit covering over the rear quarter windows with pointless carbon fiber panels...
Would the wheels look better in black chrome?

That is a really hot car. I love it. It is a Boss with out being a Boss and it is the most Tastefully done and well done tuner I have seen. BUT..... If I had 90K to drop into a car I would built a Pantera GT2. I have seen them in good condition for 28 to 35k and put 20 to 30 grand in and you have a monster of a car. Italian styling FORD power plant.
