08 Roush 428R
One more to add to the list, hey if Ford can keep milking the same exact car by just rebadging it then why not Roush and Saleen.
428 and 429, this time the numbers are referring to the years they will come out; 2008 and 2009.
"We are continuing to honor and celebrate the heritage of the proudest models of Ford racing history - the 427, 428 and 429 (engines)" Yeah by completely ignoring the history, heritage and fact that the numbers referred to the cubic inches, and take advantage of a hot market full of ignorant people that dont know the history and milk it for all its worth....what a touching tribute!

Its all about the $$$ and the mystic of the 'retro by gone era'. Lots of people that grew up with the old school cars and Roush has figured out how to market "and sell" their new counterparts to a generation that has money to burn. I'd do things abit different to make these cars abit more unique from one other but its his business.

I view the seats and the one set of fog lights as an improvement. If Roush would do away with carbon fiber interior crap and redesign the snow plow front bumper it would just about be the best all around high performance Mustang.

Well its just a marketing thing right? I mean its essentially the SAME car as the 427R with a different end number (to designate year) and maybe a tweak to the S/C tune....
So they are making the same thing for three years with a different number at the end

Needs to be more Astony
I loved the 427R and now without the grill fogs the car looks amazing. Only one peice i don't like, actually i hate it...the fake carbon fiber all over. blah.

Exactly Dave, and the marketing ploy is to reflect the year. 427R for 07, 428R for 08, and probably 429R for 09 . Overall the tune in these cars is not that percise. It's the same package I have on my charger, the 73mm pulley and tune which nets around 435 to 445 HP at the flywheel. I guess it's not a bad marketing deal for those that own them, it helps distinguish the "R" series from one year to the next...who cares?

I stopped by our local Roush dealer this morning and strolled around a Torch Red 428R. Not much to say about it. I do like the polished blower but the hood pins/grill don't do much for me @$51,000. At least there will only be 200 of them. Too bad they quit making them in Redfire. I guess its all about what you like as far as eye candy. I'll keep my stang!! I still really enjoy it!!
