'07 Cobra
#1
The Power Lease information i received in the mail has a Q&A section on the back and one of the questions was "What if I decide to purchase an Explorer instead of the '06 Lightning or '07 Cobra...or lease a new vehicle at that time?"
So does that pretty much sum up a guarantee that the next SVT stang will be called Cobra?

So if the fans are familiar with the Cobra name....then it makes sense to stay with the Cobra name or else they may alienate the potential buyers

How much do you guys think the '07 SVT stang will be? Any guesses or ideas? Trying to figure out right now if I should just get a 2 or 3 year lease on the '04 Mustang and get the Cobra, or wheatever they are gonna call it, way in '07. And Maria... how do you get to be a Power Lease Option Holder? DO you just lease a Ford, or what?

Why does everyone think the Cobra will be so expensive? argggggggghhhhhhh
OK we already know their will be several variants including the Shelby. So if they will be ADDING Mustang variants, some of which will move more up market. Why would Ford change the market of the current Cobra? Ok If the cobra IS changed to be upmarket, their will be another car priced almost exactly the same which takes the roll of the current or former SVT Cobra.
If you think their will be a under 20K V-6, a 25k GT, and then a 50K Cobra you are SO wrong.
I dunno what the heck it will be called but their will most definatly be a 34K Mustang with IRS and 400HP.
This is how it will probably be: We have heard their will be a Boss, a Mach 1, a Cobra and a Shelby. J Mays has already mentioned those cars. (BTW,I'm not getting into the "what will it be called" debate. )
I am thinking this though, the lineup should be something like:
v6
GT
28k Boss OR Mach 1
34K Cobra (This like I said, could be called something else, i.e Boss/Mach 1)
And 40k UP we get the SHELBY Variant. however many shelby variants their maybe if their are multiple.
Of course we don't know what the cars will be. Lets think about it though, they have already told us we will have the Cobra, and a SE, and a Shelby. (The Shelby could be the SE of course, but I doubt it).
Their is no reason at all that the Cobra will go UP in price!!! Where are you getting this from? Yes their are rumors of 500HP, but Ford can get 500HP easy. Trust me a gain in 70HP will not cost an extra 14K!! It didn't before did it?
Ford went from 315HP to 430HP. The Cobra didn't go up 15K did it? It did go up some, but not that much.
If anything the Shelby variant guarentees the Cobra will stay at 34K. It (the Shelby) will be Fords upmarket Mustang.

Ok I'm calm now.
EDIT in bold.

Ford doesn't even seem to know what they want to call the SVT car yet so I wouldn't be so fast to say anything is set in stone. As for price, the only official "printed" comment from Ford regarding the Cobra is that it will move upscale and compete with the M series. I figure it can be anywhere from 40 to 55K. Whatever SE is brought out will be the mid 30s car. I think it will be the Mach.

Man a Boss or Mach 1 at 28K, that would be awesome.
But then again..a GT is 300..how much hp is enough? I guess it's like the question, 'how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?'....the world will never know.
I'm just wondering how well the GT will compete with the GTO....we know the 03-04 Mach 1 can.

It all depends on the options on the next generation cobra. If it gets the sequential manual gearbox (paddle shifters) plan on paying much more than $40K for the car. For all we know, it could get a detuned version of the dry sump Ford GT motor.
Don't sweat the small stuff folks. I bleed Ford Blue as much as the next guy, and these debates are pointless and a waste of time.
Until valid information starts trickling down over the next couple of years, focus on making money to pay for all the good toys to come.
I for one would be more interested in the Cobra Roadster, as I already own a Cobra and believe you need to diversify your toys in the garage!
Keep the rubber side down fellas.

I don't agree that they are pointless. The speculation is building hype about the car and getting me and a lot of other potential buyers very excited about it. I haven't owned a Mustang since 1996. I can either buy the current or spend my time getting geared up for the next one. In that respect, these threads serve a purpose to pacify me and keep me from buying the current Cobra. It is a one shot deal for me. I will only buy one and keep it forever. I'd rather get the new style and hopefully 500hp version. I don't want SMG.
