Trying to Draw Chibi style.

Haven't posted any of my "regualr" cartoon work in a long time so here's what I been
working on recently, Trying to learn/understand a different style of cartooning
Posted a few up here for comments.

Starting to have a bit of fun doodling these "Chibi" like toons.
Anyone else drawing this style of cartoons?

Working on some posible tee shirt designs for my son's lacrosse team.
Here's a finished set of designs and a couple of sketch book pages...

Those are great chuck!

I always admire the amount of practice you put into all your works. Your car toons didn't get to be the best by accident.

Thanks and yep this is a very basic animie styling.

And Chris, I'm a big believer in the "practice, practice, practice," method to
improve my skills.
I try to have a sketch pad with me where ever I go and usually doodle away
when I have some time to watch a bit of TV in the evenings too.

Jason have fun with them. I got a ref book by Christopher Hart to
help me get started with that style of drawing.

I'm also working on CAR-toon layout ideas using "Chibi" style drivers too.
Hardest thing for me to remember is to keep the head so big compared to the body,
I keep sizing the body to be too proportional in size to the head.

That is definnatly hard when you have to fight against the proportions that you have known so long. Gotta get into the mindset of the new style.

Chris--yep the LAX dude images are all vector drawn with paths and fills.
I use the b-spline tool with Expression to plot down the nodes for each path,
then adjust, add, or delete nodes as needed to get the shape I want.

Arin--you're spot on about LAX. My 11 year old plays goalie for his team and we call him "spot."
That's because his legs are full of bruises from the ankles up due to stopping shots on goal with his body.

manga/anime fan over here! - tried it, and was blown away at a early age... BTW, as mentioned - the "injured ones" look good.

Thanks all--got to make a few more of these soon.

Doug--I stumbled across these lil doodles in a tooning ref book and
then found Hart's book which had good "How-to" instructions. I do wish
I can figure out how to capture the same "sketchy" feel of the pencil work
in the finished vector designs.

Arin--Yep, my youngest son is the "rock" of the family.
He also plays lineman (guard and tackle) in football too.
