Sketchbook
Here are three of the sketches I am happiest with so far in my "super hero book."
Rock Howard from King of Fighters fame:

Position is a little too boring for what he is doing, so I'm gonna probably completely change this one before doing anything to it. It's a good practice one though.
Can't wait to add the blue power flames!
Wolverine:

Standard Wolverine stance. ho-hum.
Magneto:

I'm unhappiest with Magneto so far.... I need to make him straighter, and that helmet is killing me, and so is the position of his hand.
Critics and Tips will be much obliged!
I need a lot of them at this stage of my drawings

Well, it didnt take long to get a more exciting stance for Rock (I just played a little bit of the video game and saw how he executed that move, should have done that before). To visualize what he is doing, he is doing one of his special fighting moves where he hits the floor with his hands and blue power flame thingies shoot up :geek:
HEre is the outline to it:

very nice lalo....me likey!
you know i love comic book art!
In the last one...the way you are explaining it you say hes hitting the ground but i don't think you have enough power drawn into his pose... i think his knees should be bent more so it doesn't like like hes stretching before a run.

Chris- I know it's not a lot, but I saw what you are explaining. It was too straight. I just bent it a bit to get some of that force pose (I made his thigh too thick, so once I shave some of it off, it'll look more bent)

Thanks! Keep them tips coming!

I've created a fair share of unproportioned "creatures" in my life lol... I still have my slip ups, and they seem to come in bunches. Just like some of these came one after another.

Is it better to color in these types of drawings with Markers?
My girlfriend just bought me a small set of Prismacolor markers, and I have been afraid to use them because I have no idea how to utilize them to their full potential (anything else I do would be a waste imo).
Is it time to polish off those puppies and take a stab at it?
Have you used markers?

I agree, you both do great with the proportions.
That has always been my bane, so of course I draw toon peeps.
(Also struggle with the comic/graphic novel style shading/coloring, too.)
Now it's my time to learn.
Keep on posting your good stuff.
Here's a couple of character study pages for my long in developing,
new sequential comic. Current working title is "Tweeks, Geeks, the Mod and Floyd."
(And yes, Floyd is the one with no nose.)
