My 35mm and other digital body both have larger surface areas, kinda wish they would just keep them all the same.:grin:

Sweeeeet...

Very nice! I have an "old" Canon D30, do you know if that can be converted?

yep, www.lifepixel.com will do it, for about $350 (looks like they have raised their price! my 10d ran $300 a few months back). It's well worth it though, considering the filters, long shutter speeds, and no viewfinder that the dark wratten filters give you. With it converted, it's just like shooting a normal slr, those I posted in this thread were all hand held! :) You just have to check your exposure to make sure you aren't blowing out the highlights, that's easy to do because I think the camera still meters for the visible light, not the IR light that the sensor chip is capturing. I haven't had to compensate more than 1 2/3 stops though, so it's fairly accurate.

Once it's converted though, the only way for the camera to go back to visible light is to have it re-converted though. But considering the price of our old canons, it costs more to have it converted, than it does to pick up another used body! :screwy: lol :rofl2:

Or if you are really brave (or stupid, you decide) you can remove the IR filter yourself: http://www.astrosurf.org/buil/350d/350d.htm

Error404 1/29/07 11:36 PM

yep, I was gonna give that a try myself, but I figured it was probably worth it just to have it done by someone who knows what they are doing :-)

Thanks Daniel,

I'm packing my camera up tomorrow for shipping. Hey... this is like modding my car . Thanks a lot

haha! :-D Enjoy it, I know you will! You'll want to probably swap the red and green channels and do auto-levels/curves on all your IR images to get something that doesn't look like T100 terminator vision. I have an action I created that does that, then I tweak from there.

HAHA! Just make sure you save some funding for some new cloths for her  and tell her it's a trade :rofl2: Don't look at my sunsets, or you'll be wanting an 800mm lens :banghead:

Maybe this is what mars would look like with a blue atmosphere?

More to come tomorrow, I head out with a friend for the afternoon/evening tomorrow, so I'll be there longer and bring my tripod. Should get some better shots then, well at least more anyway.

You have some of the most amazing photography I've ever seen. Point blank.

Thanks Tillman, I'm glad you enjoy them as much as I do :)

Here are some tonight. 'the eagle' isn't actually an IR shot, but I tinted it to match the others.

Awesome work!
I ordered a IR filter weds. I can't wait til it gets here.

Edit: you may have already mentioned this but what kind of filter do you use?

Awesome :) Hope you get some good results!

I don't actually use filters. I have an older digital body (canon 10d) converted to an IR only camera, so no filters are needed.
