out for a walk today along the shores of a local lake near me. There's a floating causeway that bridges a portion of it. The sun is at it's highest point in the sky during the day. Thankfully the days are getting longer.

I've had my Samsung NX30 over a month now, and while it's still technologically beyond my pay grade, I'm slowly becoming comfy with it. I progressed past the "Auto" only mode, skipped past Aperature and Shutter priority modes, and am attempting to shoot in Manual as much as possible. Challenging is an understatement. I've also been attending a photography class once a week at a local school.
It's been way too cold and the snow's too deep to go out for the really cool shots, so my practicing has been mostly indoors.
The first three are of my Martin D-28 which I rarely play. I started late in life and never got the hang of guitar, but it makes for a nice subject.
The last pic is my 19 year old cat, Booger.

Thanks Darren. I'm trying to practice as much as possible with DoF, and I think I'm starting to understand it. I have a couple of pics that I shot @ 1/10 of a second, but the lens stability feature and mirrorless design make it almost impossible to get camera shake. That, an ISO that goes up to over 24000, and all the other stuff (once I learn it) makes it pretty idiot proof. I like the touch screen feature which flips out and rotates.
The photography class is very helpful, and the store where I bought the camera offers free Saturday morning classes on a variety of subjects for their customers in a few weeks.
The biggest downside I see with the Samsung is that it's not as well known as Nikon and Canon, and a 58-200mm add-on lens will set me back over $700. Hindsight is 20/20, but I should have considered that beforehand. Additional lenses on the more common brands are much less expensive.
Can't wait for car season.

Your pictures are at low res (about 800x500) plus compressed a lot to like 500kb size, I guess the website downscale and compress your pictures, you should upload them to an external image hosting website, and then place links to your images, that way you get best quality ( as long as you setup your upload settings right on the image hosting website, they to can downscale and/or compress your images )

it has been a while since i took the DSLR out. Here's some pics of the yard over the past month. we have a large rose garden and they make good subjects, as does my big walnut tree, and the wild Lilies with tag making a cameo appearance.
Heres the rest of the album

Yes benbrengman, I don't post too many images on there because it is linked to my personal Facebook.
Better places to follow would be twitter @studio1385 or on Facebook Brengman photography. I post many sessions on these two.

Nothing amazing, but I liked how this shot turned out when my brother brought his family down to visit:
