Yet another v6 dual exhaust question
Hi all:
I didn't want to hijack dleal00 's thread on the v6 dual exhaust question so I thought it would be better to start my own.
I too have decided to go mod up to the dual exhaust. After perusing all the threads on exhaust for the v6, I have decided to go with the GT take-off mufflers but I want to make mine a true dual system. I have been looking at the Bassani Stainless Steel X Pipe that runs from the cats back. This is supposed to be designed for the 2005 and 2006 4.6 GT's. Will this fit and work on my v6? I'm thinking it will but I just want to be sure by asking you guys that are a little more mechanically inclined than myself.
Has anyone tried this Bassani X Pipe? How does it sound? I definitely don't want a tinny rice rocket sound.I already have that with my audio system but that is for a different thread to fix. Do you really gain any hp with a dual exhaust? Maybe 5 or 10 hp?
Thanks
Jeff

10 hp is safe to say
um id go with a ford xpipe, i know for sure that works. someone on another forum has an install of that with the fordmidpipes and gt axlebacks.
yeh id go with at's they seem the best sounding mufflers for the 6. if you look in the other exhaust thread i posted a link (if you peruse the drivetrain section of that site, and in the how to section, you should find the install of the xpipe) of a couple of sound clips with those on it. thats why i asked santa for them.
hope this helps.

I also went with the GT Takeoffs, GT midpipe and FOMOCO hangers and had a muffler shop fabricate an H pipe. It sounds great and gets better as the mufflers "burn" in. You will hear a lot about H vs. X pipe and I guess it's a personal preference as I've heard both and I could not tell any difference in the tone or see any difference in performance. Good luck!

Hey guys, thanks for the input.
It sounds like GT takeoffs are the route for me. Is there a difference between the mufflers for an automatic and a manual?
Can I go to the dealer to order a ford xpipe and midpipes or is there a better ( ie cheaper ) place to get them? Does anyone have any takeoffs for sale? I guess the debate between x and h pipe will rage on.
I bought my car as a winter car and originally thought that the way it is would be just fine. However , its a 5 speed and its really fun to drive and after hooking up with this site and seeing and hearing about all the great mods ,I gotta tell ya, I'm hooked. My poor wallet gets lighter by the minute. I hate you guys.

no they go from the x to the mufflers
you will also need hangers for the left muffler (ninosport has them)
you'll find everything you need about this here...

You have the exact same setup as I do.
Finally got a chance to get a video clip of the duals.
Setup: GT takeoffs GT Midpipe with a custom H-pipe.
I've had them for a few months now so they are pretty well broken in and have a nice tone to them. No drone and pretty quite at idle, but deep rumble at WOT or with a little acceleration. I'm very happy with the way they turned out.
