I love the wheels that came on my v6 with the spinners. I wish somebody would make a knock off in a bigger size. What was ford thinking with a 16 by 7 and 215 tires? My old 89 gt had wider tires and it was a smaller car. Just wondering if anyone felt the same.

We all feel the same. I think someone here put 245's on their stock rims, and 235's are no problem. Im going to be putting 18's on after i wear these tires out, and probably put 265/45z18 tires. The tires in themselve will probably decrease my 0-60 time by a coupel tenths.

I agree, darn toy looking tires, but I'm stuck cause I love the look of the rims. Probably go with 235/55/16 Falken when the stock wears out. Have the Falkens on my 90 GT HB and they are pretty decent for the price.

How much will the 235/55 affect the speedo?

discount tires has a calculator that figures it out on their website.

I like the look of the wheels but they are a pain to clean. I'm planning on getting 17"Bullits mainly for that reason. (Also to put a better performance tire on.

I love the bullitts, but I think I am stickign with Hallibrands. I have found that using a towel or washcloth is the only way to get every nook and cranny clean.

As with Danalor, I will be upgrading to the Falken's when my stock tires wear out.

I also love the wheels with spinners. Has anyone put the spinners with the running pony to replace the ones it came with that say ford? Any pics?

<----- Seriously afraid that people are going to start swiping the spinners when they realize that they can just be popped off.

Anyone else see this happening? I really REALLY don't want to walk out to my car one day and see them missing, but since the aren't locked on in any fashion, I am afraid it is unavoidable. Someone wants a souvenier, someone's got stolen, someone found another wheel that they fit on.

Hope it isn't so, but I've had things as simple as metal valve stem caps stolen from my car before. Even worse - had 2 of them taken. Why not take all 4?

EDIT: By THEM, I mean the valve stem covers, not the spinners. No report of theft for them yet. Hope I don't come out to my car one day and cry

All this time I thought the caps were attached via a backer plate, then I ordered the pony spinners and when they came in I was like, "These just snap on???" Yeah, I'm worried too because now I have the pony spinners on. Sure would be a cheap upgrade for someone to just swipe mine!

Someone did swipe my spinners! My car originally came with the pony logo spinners. I came out of a community center one day and someone had replaced the pony spinners with Ford logo spinners. I really loved those wheels with the pony logo and it was one of the reasons why I didn't upgrade the wheels. Well, I didn't stay mad for too long and used the incident as an excuse to get 17" American Racing Casino Chromes.

I fear this too, I might need to think of a way to get them more secure than they are now

The first thing I did after I got my car was upgrade to bigger tires at Discount tires. Click on the American Casions link in my sig for details.

I'll look for it but somebody already posted a cool fix to keep our spinners in place. He used a dowel that just fit inside the retainer spring and cut it so it was the right diatance from the hub to the inside of the spinner. Reinstall the wheel and the spinners are secure because the retaining spring cannot collapse to allow the clips to slip out.

Like I said, I'll look for it and add the link.

OK, here is the PVC version, I can't find the wood dowel, still looking....

I'm going to check to see if I have anything to stuff in that spinner to prevent the retainer from pinching together.
thanks for the tip John

FYI
If you get and X-Calibrator 2 you can change the wheel size in the computer so your speedo is right

Yes, here are a couple of pics. They look very nice, although it's not the sort of mod that most people would notice.

==I came out of a community center one day and someone had replaced the pony spinners with Ford logo spinners.==

That is so messed up! Goes to show how easy it is though. That PVC cap mod looks like a good idea.
