Thumbs up

Hi all...
Im a newbie here and was wandering what the masses here think regarding buying the V6 or the GT V8?
I just put an order in for the V6(Redfire) with auto trans, suspension package, anti theft, leather interior (Dark Charcoal) and drivers side airbag. The total cost was about $7000.00 less than the GT. Now I have to wait patiently and its driving me NUTS!! From what I've been reading and researching the new V6 is a strong engine with good mileage and reliability. I already have a V8 in my 67 coupe (289) that Im restoring so I thought Id go with the V6.

Your #'s don't make any sense.

A GT should be only $5K more (sticker) than a similarly equipped V6. If you add in ABS / Traction control on V6, the difference to a GT is only $4,300 at sticker price (ABS / Traction is standard on the GT)

In addition to the big V8 the GT has larger brakes, limited slip rear end (with larger gears) & 17" tires & wheels, bigger stronger clutch & MTX, so you're getting you're money's worth for your extra $4,300 (at sticker price).

Sounds like your comparing a stripper Deluxe V6 to a Premium GT. That's comparing apples to bannanas. I wonder if your dealer steered you to the V6 because they know that they can get more V6s.

I got a silver deluxe V6, sport appearance(spoiler/door decals), security, shaker 500, auto for $21,500 US. Sticker was $22,130 yes yes i know someone paid less than sticker it does happen. The local dealer has only sold 2 mustangs since they came out mine had been on the lot almost a month and only had 9 miles on it. They have yet to sale a GT and they have 2 of them one red and one yellow both are $29k.

I bought a Sonic Blue V6 Premium, Auto, sport, Interior Upgrade, Active Alarm, Wheel locks and ABS for 22,240 (X PLAN) in Kansas City on 11/13/04. I moved to Oklahoma a couple weeks later, now I see a Red GT with the same upgrades, but Manual, down here for 24,400(X-PLAN). What am I trying to say...doooooh. I guess a little part of me really regrets not waiting to get a GT.

Yes but think about how much your insuranes is every 6 months, that can make the diference in the choice you make.

I was going to get a V6 too, since I have a drag car that will be pushing 450-500HP and another toy for street driving, but I decided to go with the GT, since it was only like $50.00 extra per month for the difference and the gas mileage is still good. Insurance is a little higher then I hoped though.

Yea, I was reading your post thinking that I only paid about $25,800 with my X-Plan. I did alot of looking before I bought. well, at least you will save on insurance.
