any of the packaged tunes will take care of that hesitation i believe, so you could just order it online. Order it from doug and you will receive a discount *$365 fot sct2 i believe.

Yep... get a SCT X-Cal2... shipped right to your door. There is a torque limiter in 1st gear... Before my X-Cal2 I couldn't get my stock tires to chirp at all from a dead stop... now with the X-Cal2 I'm lighting up my big BALLON tires!!! It's a night and day difference! For me it was the best bang for the buck...

Correct. I got mine from BamaChips and he put 87, 89 and 93 octane tunes customized for my mods. It makes a huge difference and it's well worth the money.

All you have to do is disconnect the battery IIRC.

I'm so confused. My car is less than 2 months old and has about 3500 miles. THe hesitation, which is getting worse, is NOT covered under the warrenty?

Am I supposed to spend money to fix the problem? Is this chip going to stop the hesitation?

I have only put 89 octane in the car. It just seems like the car deserves better than 87 but isn't quite good enough for anything better.

If I buy the chip, who do I take it to for installation? Will Ford do it or do I need to find a private mechanic?

Sorry for the dumb quesitons but I'm not at all mechanical, but I am concerned about the way my car is driving. I'll gladly spend the money if it solves the problem, but I just want to be sure it is money I need to spend.

If you get an Xcal-2 you just plug it in under the the steering column and follow the instructions. You don't need a mechanic or any mechanical skills. You're right, it is sad that we have to buy a tuner to get rid of that hesitation.

Actually the hesitation is mostly due to the torque limiter which is there to "make sure your drive train makes it through the warranty period"... LOL!

two questions here.
1. if I get a CAI will the Xcal-2 improve performance with it?
2. By instaling the Xcal-2 does it do any harm to the engine at all?

I thought the hesitation in the car was a defect and that it was something that needed to be fixed? I mean no one makes a car that doesn't go when you tell it to on purpose.......do they

Some have disconnected the battery for 5 minutes or so in order to reset the computer. Then, driven like they stole it. The throttle response is adaptable and learns your driving style.

It's not a defect. Ford set it up that way. They have been doing it for awhile I think they have had this same setup in the Rangers and it is the same way.

Picked up my Xcal2 yesterday from CJ Pony Parts. Loaded the new tune last night when I got home from work. After loading the tune, wife & I jumped in the car to see the difference. My wife was skeptical so after I backed out of the driveway, put it in drive and stomped the gas pedal and spun the tire with no problem. Wife was amazed we were now able to do that. I drove it to work this morning and overall, the car feels more responsive as far as the throttle is concerned...

Get one - you won't be dissapointed.

its a HUGE diff for the auto's dont know if its as big of a diff for the manuals. Im torn between an XCAL2 or nitrous, since they are roughly the same price lol. Maybe ill just wait another month, and get em both at the same time.

Funny, 4 months ago I was against a tune because I didn't wanan mess around with my warrenty, now i'm at the point where I almost don't care anymore. I still don't want to get the Xcal-2 and then a month later have somethign major happen to my engine.
