Question

We'll the 53rd Annual NibRoc Carnival is in town and i'm going town main street and i had a buddy of mine try to out run me in his Escort ZX3. I just easliy pressed the pedal up to 90 and ran off leaving him in the dust and we'll a truck pulls right beside me and rev's the engine and floors winding his engine to a high pitched (thinking it's bad) Of Course i give it a little gas and shw him my car isn't a wimp and let off not interesting in recieving a ticket. So he continues to look back desiring me to floor it and race him so i turn off and leave him be. I have several Trucks thinking their bad just because thye have a bigger engine an more torque. Does anyone else have this problem or is everyone just intersted in me .
And why does all truck owners think that a truck is mean b/c it has a v8 an more torque? it's heavier so to use it to it's full potential it must have the torque and the extra horses?? Oh we'll just trying to start a convo

I have yet to be challenged by a truck, a parts van for some reason was playing with me yesterday on the fwy. I just pressed on it and passed him to get out at my exit rather than switching behind him.

We will take out most any stock truck that is not performance oriented.

I raced a silverado 1500 at the track last week. His was supercharged with a 175 shot of nos. His tires broke loose half way down the track and he had to back off of it and he ran a 14.2

But on the street ive had trucks race me, i raced a tahoe with 2 friends in my car with the windows down and still whooped him.

how about the new tacomas? they have i think 245 horses and the regular cab ones are lighter than most trucks. my friend just bought a new one and he wants to race me once i get my 06. he thinks he can beat me. I need to get my car soon so i can shut him up. what do you think should i race for pink slips? lol

Ive already raced and beat a supercharged 02 tacoma, so i dont think you should have a problem.

From what I know about the new sporty Tacoma, is that it'll go to 60 in about 7.6 seconds, but pulls .9 in the skidpad.
So we should have no problem taking them out 1 by one, if you want to take one out at the track then a stabilizer bar designed for the V6, and some wider tires should do the trick.

Actually this is a timely topic...

I got my first real kill last night! And it was against a late model Chevy pickup! LOL!

I'm rolling up to a red light... I'm still moving so i'm still like in 2nd or 3rd gear... The truck is already stopped... Light turns green... Truck REVS and takes off! I hesitate for an instant and then say "What the heck" I stomp on it and car down shifts and we're off! Now this Chevy sounds pretty agressive, lowered, small tires, ground effects.. you know what I'm talking about! Well, my car with the new 4.10 pulls past him no problem.... The truck is really winding his motor out... He's really chirping the tires on his shifts! But so does my car now! And I pull 3 car lengths ahead and he just backs right off! WOOHOOO!!! My first kill! The best part... You could still see some of the "For Sale....." writing on the windshield, so I'm sure this guy just bought this truck and thougt is was hot stuff! LOL!!

BTW... I've never had any other vehicle rev on me before except once when I first got my car and an 05 GTO did...

Race against the supercharged tacoma wasnt even close, before 3rd gear i already had over 2 lengths on him. i dont race em anymore cuz its a waste of gas.

Im not sure the HP # of the supercharged tacoma's but if im not mistaken they were at 210? but i believe they made a lot of torque, and they were underrated.

I know I am in the V6 section, but I raced a Dodge 2500 turbo and got my butt whipped in my GT. We raced in the 1/8 mile at a track and he beat me by at least 1 1/2 truck lengths. Then I had to race his dad, lost again.

I have a 2003 Tacoma and I have a K&N drop in, Dual exaust, which puts my truck right around 300-310HP (started at 260). I race my Firend all the time, he has a 2003 Mustang with nothing in at all it's a V6 I think they have 198 HP but he usually smokes me pretty bad in most short runs on longer ones I catch up but I tried to race an 05 stang and all I ever saw was the tail lights can't wait till I get mine

Im curious what makes you think a K&N and dual exhaust gives you 55 hp lol. maybe 20.

Anyway, yes ive seen an F350 run an 11.98 in the quarter mile. He claimed to have 1200 lb/ft of torque, which i believe to be able to run that time.

EDIT: My neighbors 7.3 excusion also ran low 13's on a consistent basis, and that was just with exhaust, chip and turbo upgrade.

I was told that would be the expected increase the drop in does't add much at all but the guy who did my pipes said an increase of 25-30. So I really don't know how much the increase was. I did not have some second rate 17 yr old do it the guy has been doing it for 20+ years so while I never believe any one 100%, I do trust a professional.

25-30hp is an EXTREME amount for just adding duals. And you wont get more than 5hp from adding a K&N dropin (i think the 2v 4.6's dynoed 4hp which is the most ive seen). Even putting headers, highflow or no cats, and duals is probably not going to net you 25-30hp, nevermind 55. Even with a larger engine like the 4.6, most gt owners are seeing gains of at most 15hp with adding headers, and high flowing exhaust.

Thanks for the info, I never took him seriously though. What it come down to is I am only getting 280 at most 290 out of my Truck ( I just like to say it has more ) and its a V6 with 4 wheel drive and the extra cab so all that extra weight is going to hamper what ever I do to improve it. Thats why I wanted a Mustang. If you want a sports car you should get a sports car.

Im glad you were mature enough to take that as educating and not arguing, most people would have debated that to the death.
