Tires for the V6

I read an article in Car and Driver stating that one of the major things holding back the performance of the V6 was the tires. Due to a skidpad score of 0.79 and 70-0 braking distance of 189, I dont think I want to keep the BFGoodrich Traction T/A tires.
Now, I dont really want to buy new wheels,( I like the 16's with the spinners) so does anyone have any suggestions for all season 215/65-16 tires?

I think the main problem is the 215's. I ditched the 185's that came with my accord and stuck 215's on, the mustang deserves at least 235's.
You could go with 235/60s and only gain a couple of mm of wheel diameter. That wouldn't mess up the speedo, and you would have a tire that's 2 cm wider!
As soon as my tires go that's what I'm getting!

If you are going to do any modifications that will take off speed and rev limiters then you will defiantly have to change out your tires. The current stock tires are only rated to 118 that is the main reason Ford put the limiter.

I doubt that I will be doing any of those mods yet sviper. But refering to the post above yours, wouldnt the 235's be too wide?
And since I need all-season tires, have any of you heard anything good about Goodyear Assurance triple tread design? One of my friends that works in the tire industry said to try those, but arent they more for luxury sedans and minivans?

a 7-inch-wide wheel will easily handle 235/245 tires, and a lower profile such as 50 or 55 will keep the sidewall from flexing as much. that would cure most of the problems. A summer-compound tire this size is the biggest change you can make to your car -- it's the difference between a hiking boot and a running shoe.
it's hard for tires to perform well and wear/handle bad weather well, which is why most folks would tell you to look at a separate set of summer tires and keep the factory stuff for winter.
if you're dead-set on all seasons, i like the falken ziex 512 in a either a 235/55 or a 255/50. has fairly stiff sidewalls, but doesn't ride harsh. The treadwear rating is 380, which indicates a softer, grippier compound.
the goodyear assurances (treadwear rating 700+, meaning they're hard as rocks) are indeed meant for cars other than your mustang.

OEM pull offs are wheels pulled off a new car to put on custom wheels, alot of GT buyes don't want the stock wheel and sell them, often to where they bought the custom wheels or e-bay.

I ditched the wheels and tires and went for Nitto ZR rated 275/40x18 on 18x9" Motorsport wheels for the rear and 245/45 18 on 18x8" Motorsport wheels for the front. Now the thing sticks to the road on turns and breaking MUCH better. I would say almost as good as my BMW 528I but that would be pushing it a bit....
The whole tire/wheel package ran about $1450 including mounting, balancing, locking lug nuts and shipping to my door.
IMHO. it's the only way to go!
Of course I now have the original wheels and tires (with spinners and locking Ford lug nuts) that I took off the car with only 800 miles on them. They are now in storage for use when we sell the car, or maybe I'll sell them for the right offer!
The whole tire/wheel package ran about $1450 including mounting, balancing, locking lug nuts and shipping to my door.
