Which Tuner to buy I know I dont want a prgramming chip. I do want a hand held programmer with at least 2 tunes, but which one.
hypertech, sct, diablo, any others out there ?
Does it matter what kind of cai that has been installed?

as for the CAI sometimes as when its set up they can do a better tune in knowing as some venders have done the home work & have differnt setting on brand names.

Actually I don't believe you can use a chip on the s197 like the older cars. They have moved the computer to the engine bay and it is completely sealed unit. You would be better off to purchase the CAI and tune together, that way they can customize the tune for the CAI. Each brand CAI is stightly different thus needing tweeks to avoid the Check Engine Light. if you do a search on tunners you will find a widely varrying opinion on who is the best. I personally like bama chips.

I have a sct and it was pretty easy straight forward to program my car with. First time I ever did it. JLT intake here also. It is supose to be one of the top dogs at a great price

Thanks guys, I bought a Airaid CAI and Magnaflows already, I have searched and it seems that the SCT is the most popular, so I guess that will be the one.

which works out to 2.34 American cents. lol.

cheekie, if you are going to have it custom tuned by a local tuner, then i would suggest using which ever handheld tuner they use at the shop.

if you are going to be using a mail order tune, then yeah i would also say sct. and as far as where to get the handheld tuner/tune combo, i would say bamachips or brenspeed.

If you go to the Brenspeed site they sell a MAC CAI and SCT tuner combo. I have this setup and it works very well.
Brenspeed
