T-Lok and New gears

So today I picked up my car after it got a new convertible top (TSB 07-19-1) at the Ford Dealer. While I was waiting I went to the parts department and talked to the parts rep. I told him that I wanted the T-Lok and 3.73 gears on my car. He looked them up and told me that the T-Lok for the v6's are 8.8's. And also said that the 3.73 gears would make my engine run 500rpm more than it does now, leading to a decreased engine life. I was totally down with it before but now I'm questioning getting T-Lok and 3.73 gears. What do you guys think? Are his claims true?

V6 rear is 7.5 not 8.8... This guy hasn't a clue. If the mechanics are as clueless as this guy I'd start looking for another dealer.

Unfortunately this is the norm, not the exception anymore at dealer service dept's. If I passed as much misinformation along at my job as these guys do to customers I would get canned!

yeh if you go to the ford racing site theres a t-lock for the 7.5 rear end

as well as gears for that as well. IMO find a good shop and have them install it as oppose to ford. They will also have no clue if you take it in for service because there is no visual change to it!

Yeah after reading the posts on T-Lok for V6's I thought it was 7.5 but when I went in to order the parts he told me they were 8.8's. Thanks for your help guys.

When you have the T-Lok installed make sure to have 2 bottles of friction modifier put in.
Still can`t beleive Ford isn`t putting T-Lok as Standard on V6 !
