Hi All,

No mods to the ride, just recently put on a gt takeoff, and that's it.

I love the car, but am more into the handling than the power....till the warranty drops off anyways. So the question is what can I do to firm up the V6 ride?

I know we're missing a stabilizer bar or something, but what are some things that can be done? Springs, new sway bars, panhard bar?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

On a side note, my wife drives the car and has gotten two tickets in the last three months for speeding, but none of them for more than 6 miles over the limit! :notnice: Total BS if you ask me, I think she's getting pulled over cause she's an attractive young girl in a mean looking car. It's just a simple black V6, not a Ferrari, so what gives.. ....Anyone else getting pulled over more cause of the Stang??

For handling, the 06 V6's are getting a beefier front stabilizer bar, and a rear one. Me I'm just going to order these, and along with some wider rims & tires. That'll be enough for me for a good while.
You could get new springs, and panhard bar too. I'm sure with all that getting over .9 in the skidpad should be easy.

I have a black V6 too and havent gotten attention from cops, I havent sped with one around yet though, so I'm taking it easy most of the time unless I'm 100% sure.

Don't forget some new tires. If you want to stick with the stock rims, i'd go with some Khumo Ecstas, 235/60/16s. Wider and a better performer than the stock tires. Also pretty cheap. About $60 a tire.

I went with the wider wheels and tires (someday I may even be able to post pics). It definitely helps. With the stock tires I felt like the car would break into a shimmy whenever I'd hit a sweeping turn. My 255's really make me feel like I stick to the road.

Hi Manny,
Thanks for letting me know that the 2006 V6 now has a proper front anti-sway bar, and a rear anti-sway bar now present and accounted for. I was just about to order an Eibach set tomorrow to have on-hand when my car arrives in a few weeks.
Thanks, Brian.

Actually, I believe only the V6 with the pony package comes fully equiped with the biger front sway bar and rear sway bar. To my knowledge, the regular V6 still only comes with the regular front sway bar and no rear sway bar.

That makes sense. I could never find the actual statement that my Premium V6 will arrive with the rear anti-sway bar. I am having Les Schwab "do my suspension" as a package (Springs, anti-sways, Rims, tires, & alignment), so I'll make sure that when we order the anti-sways, that their use is pending the absence of same on my Premium trim version.
Thank you for the heads-up, Brian.

Brian,

What sway bars are you thinking of buying, how much and where from?

Thanks for the info.....

I've heard that you don't need a camber kit with the eibach pro kits, but that you might need the adjustable panhard bar to re-center the rear axle with the body....let us know if that's the case....

Thanks

Hi,
I am getting the Eibach anti-sway bars designed to complement the stiffness of the Eibach Pro-Kit, with a replacement front anti-sway bar and the rear bar too:
http://eibach.com/cgi-bin/htmlos.exe/00899...867061300030072
I am going to call Jim or somebody at Eibach (951-256-8300) on Monday to confirm the kit part number for our V6s. "Shox" has a price of $365 for an "065. Eibach Anti-Roll Kit":
http://www.shox.com/
which probably is it. It is described as a "35mm front and 24mm rear sway bar set". The stock GT Coupes are listed as "34mm front and 20mm rear". The stock V6 Coupes are listed as "28.6mm front and nothing rear".
Performance Centers lists the kit for $412.54:
http://www.performancecenter.com/products/...06/sf3_MUSTANG/
AJ’s USA lists what appears to be the same part for $412.97
http://www.ajusa.com/cgi-bin/eibach/detail...7c16db278d34cde
So, it looks like Shox is a pretty fair price. I’ll write back later with more.
Brian.

I don't want to detract from the subject at hand, but speaking of keeping the stock rims and changing the tires--how wide could you go SAFELY. In other words, what is the maximum reccommended width of a tire for the 16"x7" stock wheels.

ok, I upgraded my wheels and tires as step one; next im looking to buy the Steeda sport springs. but i can tell you i upgraded to the 17" GT Upgraded wheels (not the bullits) and put 255/50/17 Nitto NT450 Tires on them, and my car grips like a son of a b_tch. Once they're warm they are great. I want to go a lil bit wider, but im going to hold off. I think i paid 113 a tire from discount tire rack for my tires with free shipping, so they weren't that bad at all as far as price goes. A friend of mine bought a set of Kumho (not sure which brand) but they were 245/45/17 on his 2001 GT wheels; and he paid a grand for his tires and installation. I like my Nitto's..

Hi Steve,
When I tried to bring-up the Application Guide over the weekend; it flamed-out on me, but it is working for me today:
http://eibach.com/cgi-bin/htmlos.exe/00523...970610600030766
When I enter 2005 Ford, and Click on Mustang, Coupe, 6 Cyl., I get:
PRO-KIT 1.3 in 1.4 in 35100.140
ANTI-ROLL-KIT 35mm ta 24mm sn 35101.320 (different from your number above)
I next called Mark at Eibach (951-256-8300) to ask him about the changes from 2005 to 2006, and he said that he was unaware of any. I confirmed the part numbers with him. He also said that the Anti-sway kit was the same for both the V8 and the V6. So for me, I'll order my Pro-Kit through Les Schwab and have them install it with my wheels, tires & alignment, and I'll order the Anti-roll kit myself through Shox. Mark assures me that the installation of the kit is a snap as long as you have a good car jack & safety stands. The Anti-roll kit comes with clear instructions too. Hey; this is easier than saving a bunch of money on my car insurance with that Lizard!
Thanks, Brian.

do you have to buy any hardware when installing the eibach sway bars? Like the hardware for the rear sway bar because the v6 originally did not come with one. Or is everything included in the kit.

Hi,
Everything that you need is included in the Eibach Anti-sway kit. Here is a photo of the forward bar installed:

and here is a photo of the rear bar installed. It is a really nice kit, and super-easy to install. And if I might add, this car handles very nicely. I credit also the Eibach Pro-Kit springs, the V6's 50%/50% weight distribution, and with having the same tire size all the way around. Do keep in mind that the Pro-kit drop kept dropping for a couple of weeks, and what started out as about a 1.5" drop is now a 2" drop. No ground scraping problems, and it really accentuates the appearance of the forward fender flairs. I like the 2” drop.

I had some BFG 265/60/16s on the stock rim... yeah, they were bulging... but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get them to pop off! LOL!
