Hey peops. My 06 is due to arrive September 15-25. Im a college student and don't have much money to spend on mods. So I'm trying to decide if I should spend my money on appearance with wheels and tint, OR performance by getting intake and exaust. Right now I can get only one or the other so what do you guys think? In my opinion the bullits will look nicer, but how much better will they perform/handle compared to the stock wheels? Also, will intake and exaust be that noticeable to a guy that drove a 1991 toyota tercel for 5 years? Im figuring the car will already be pretty fast, so if intake and exaust won't be that much of a difference, maybe I should go with the wheels and tint.

The reason I want to make this decision soon is because if I decide to get wheels, I want to have them right when I get my car. That way the stock wheels will have 20 miles on them fresh to sell on ebay or somewhere else. One more thing, will changing from the stock wheels to gt offset the speedometer. I know the rim is one inch bigger on the gt, but the wheels are smaller. thanks for the help.

I bought Bullits from the Ford Racing catalog and put beefy tires on them. It made a huge difference in looks and the handling of the car. You can use the calculator online at Discount Tire to figure out the speedometer. With the wheel/tire combo I got, it changed it only a tenth of a mile. I sold my wheels with 3000 miles on them on eBay for almost $400. So I vote for wheels and tint.

I actually like the rims the V6 comes with, but the tires have to go. I've heard that changing tires is the best first performance mod you can make to the V6.

Well if I can get performance and looks by changing the wheels then so far that's what I'm leaning towards. Any others have an opinion?

Janet what size tires did you put on there, and how much $$ was it for the rims and tires?

David, the tires are Nitto NT 255/50/17's. The wheels were $560 and tires were $650.

I was originally going to replace the tires and wheels as my first mod to the car. However, upon further reflection I decided that I really like the stock rims and I can put up with the tires. My first mod will now be a K&N CAI and a flowmaster muffler. I will worry about cosmetics later

i'm goin exhaust/manifolds first, then CAI/Tuner and then new tires/rims. Kinda wish they made the V6 rims in a 17" version.

Agreed. A 17" version of those wheels would be the best looking wheels on the '05 :worship:

Im pretty happy with the stock wheels, but I cant say much for the tires. The wheels would look alot better in 17s.. the 16s just leave too much of a gap for my tastes. I just ordered an Eibach Pro kit, so Im gonna see how it looks after the drop. Hopefully alot better.. that gap drives me crazy.

I dont know who's idea it was to put 215s on the car, but I get the feeling it was the same guy that decided it was a good idea to use the 7.5" rear end and not give us a T-lok. Im definitely moving up to atleast a 255 when I get the chance. Id like to have something like 255s in front and 285s in the rear, but I think it would be overkill on the 6. I dont think we really need tires that wide.

Edit: I think most 5-spoke rims look the best on the car. They have more of that classic look to them. Just goes hand in hand with the body styling imo.

17s definatley look like they fit the car better. The bullits from the gt are nice, but what do you think about some black bullits on a black V6? I think they are bad hiney, anyone with pics of them on a V6?

HAha "want to touch the hiney" billy madison

It's killing me, but I know I saw a larger size 17" 0r 18" wheel that was nearly identical to the stock V6 pattern (which I like greatly). Been looking so I could post them, but I can't figure out where I saw them...

Hey Paul, those rims really do look identical to the stock ones accept they are chrome. You are nuts, just nuts for your car! Those wheels are pretty sweet, but for some reason I'm in love with the bullits. I think I'm gunna go with either the gt takeoffs or the black bullits. If I can win some money at poker I might even go for some intake and exaust too. you only live once right? But darn, saving up money is gunna be hard when I have the best lookin car in the world. :clown:

Yeah, the bullitts are pretty sweet. I'd look around and see if you can find photos of a black coupe with both the black and GT style silver before you decide. I saw a local car with black bullitts on a black coupe, and I thought it looked a bit dull (and believe me, I love black on the coupes in general). The silver bullitts might be better on your car imho.

For me, I personally like the style of the V6 wheels even over the bullitts ansd fanblades . Reminds me of the original Ford GT-40 wheels (and god help me I'm old enough to remember watching GT-40's racing on TV when I was a kid), and I may well consider the Mustang Tuning ones at some point. I sort of like the 2-tone aluminum/gun metal finish on my present set though. Chrome might look sharp though, but I'd really like to see it on a car first before plunking down the $

The nice thing with mods is you can pace yourself. Get the wheels or whatever you want most first, and odds are you'll be able to swing the intake and/or exhaust later. The less nice thing is spreading out your mods requires patience. Something us car nuts don't have an over supply of (I know I sure don't LOL)

Those wheels do look good, but I think I like the machined aluminum look/color of the sotck wheels, hopefully they'll decide to make a replica in a 17"

Get the wheels first. The car needs 17"s badly. The 16"s do look good, but are too small and the 215 tires belong on a minivan. One thing about getting wheels: you can sell your old 16"s so the net cost to you is not bad. I bought my Bullitt wheels and tires from a GT owner that put 18"s on his GT. Got them for $650. I then sold my 16" "spinner" wheels for $400. So, I ended up getting my Bullitts with for a net cost of only $250. Not bad at all. I can also tell a definite difference in handling.
