All,

First I apologize for the stupidity of this question but if you use the xcal 2 to load a tune, and the xcal downloads your stock tune to save it in case you need to reflash the pcm to stock and let's say the xcal 2 breaks or whatever..How do you get back to stock?? If it downloaded your stock tune and you can't get to it, what do you do?

Thanx...

I am sure that SCT dealers have access to the stock tune on your car (I seriously doubt each car has a unique stock tune) and would most likely be able to send you an X2 with your stock tune on it.

Hey Frank,

There is an option to upload the Stock program to your PC. If this ever happens you would want to post a help ? on SCT like this one:

http://www.sctflash.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2104

And the fine fellas at Superchips Custom Tuning will help you out.

Jennifer

And BTW - This was not a stupid question at all. You would be amazed at how many people worry about this exact situation but are afraid to ask.

Once you have downloaded the new performance program into the PCM it's there. It erases the program that is installed in the PCM so removing the battery terminal wont do anything.

I've had this problem, NOT FROM AN 05', but from a few Ranger owner's in the past. We have every stock file for the vehicles we do and if something were to happen to your X-calibrator version 1 or 2 then we could get your stock program back to you and installed in your PCM. It would require a few X-cal's but in the end I know I have gotten guys back to stock.

thanks, Doug.

Thanks for the response Doug. This really sets some of the folks' mind at ease that are hesitant to go with a tuner.
