Racing older mustangs
Racing older mustangs
I was just curious if anyone has raced any older mustangs with their V6s. Seems like a lot of people doubt the power of the newer 4.0L saying that it's extra power only makes up for it's extra weight. Before I made any performance mods on mine, I raced a late 90s GT and smoked it.

Ya, you definitely hit it right on. I challenge any critics of the new 4.0L V6 to take one for a test drive. There's no way any of them could honestly criticize the 4.0 mustang after that. Especially if they test drive a 5-speed.
I raced a few new edges at the track and an 84 GT with H/C/I work, I had better times than them all. I didn't do a whole lot of street racing but in the few I've had it was pretty good sucess. I had a 05 V6 with a Vortech for about 500' until boost kicked in....lol and I can usually take a GT off the line but thats it.
These are way underrated by the critics and general public alike but when you drive one......you know.

4L V6 can hold its own
Check out what this GT owner has to say about the V6

2 foxes and a 93 cobra
I have run 2 fox body GTs, no sweat they would probably be PO-ed if they new I was a sixer. the Cobra was running straight headers and sounded like sh** but I had him by a car length. at the light I told him It was a V6, his reply super charged! mine NOT YET! I have a 5spd,C&L CAI SCT 87oct flash, JBA headers, Pypes X pipe and a magnaflow dual exhaust, I want an X charger, i hope to get some dyno pulls shortly to see what kind of #'s I have right now.
