I just saw the article in 5.0 Mustang. Talk about a sleeper. 320 rwhp. the kit is kinda pricy at around 4200 dollars before install, but you guys could kill us stock GT's and still have lower insurance rates.

why have a v6 fully done at 320 hp when you can have a cold air / chip on a stock gt with the same power?

why not?
BTW... CAI/Chip won't give a GT 320RWHP... more like 320HP at the crank...

yup, agree with john.
just jealous of that 4.0.

and a base v6 is 20k vs a base gt 24k so with the 4k superchager it seems even except with 320 hp through a 7.5" rear end you will need to upgrade that soon to an 8.8" thats another 500-2000 dollars and then there is the stick shift tranny that would need upgrading and the clutch, oh yeah that sounds like a heck of a deal...
But i am not hear to start that age old arguement again, so i will bow out and say "what ever floats your boat"

Needs to be more Astony
2002 Camaro SS uses 7.5inch rearends....
but then again...thats why every V8 F body has to fix their rearend at least once..
oh and Danny, i think you are getting alittle defensive about this subject. I think he was kidding about you being jealous...

You can't buy a GT for 24k but you can get a V6 for less than 20k. Your math sucks.

Take a look at my latest dyno.... my car is in RED, the stock GT is in BLUE... As you can see i'm putting a lot more torque through my 7.5 rear end than a stock GT puts through the 8.8.... I've made enough passes at the track to know the 7.5 is holding up...
And remember not everyone get's A-plan... I got my V6 on X-plan but no such luck on the GT... The GT would have cost me an easy $7,000 more when I bought my car in March..... Besides it's a lot of fun sneaking up and slapping some V8s around with my poor little V6... LOL!
(why do i keep feeding the trolls???? LOL!)

Because we wanted something different this time around.. We have all owned V8 Stangs more than 5 times in our lives.. Its time for a change.. GT on its face value does not interest me.. I am excited about the new Mustangs because they are Mustangs.. It being a GT has no significance to me at all..
Now if the new 4.0 was a dud, or just plain hopeless, then you would have a point.. But this is not the case, and thus a GT is a waste of good money to me personally.. No excitement at all.. Now give me 320RWHP on a V6 Stang, by way of a Turbo, or SC, and now we're talkin some good fun..
Anyway, why would I want to own a GT and install your CAI, when everyone else will also have the same one.? I like being the underdog.. LOL!! Its fun..
Now your at the track, and you have a Mustang, and you run an 11.0 sec 1/4 mile.. People say, nice GT, the other one ran a 10 sec..
Your at the track and run an 11 sec 1/4 mile, and people ask, what is that a V6? Jesus, what ya got in there, thats sweet..
To me, at my age the V6 brings more satisfaction.. Now the GT is nice, but I've been there done that..

the T5 transmission has been rated good up to about 400+ at the wheels. I don't think the transmission is going to be a problem. I'm waiting to see how the turbos come out to see which power adder I want to go to bed with. I couldn't get a GT for less than 35k in the state of GA in april. So I drive a v6. Which actually probably is a blessing in disguise as i still have the styling, some of the performance, and being 22, lower insurance, and gas being what it is. I don't need to justify myself or anything, but you throw a good tune on any manual 05 4.0 and it starts running more like it should and those v6 hondas aren't much of a threat anymore. (I can beat my mother's v6 04 accord now, friend driving of course :P, and it's not even close)

Finding a GT down here in the south off the floor is plain impossible. I know its been rough in other places too, but people just take it to a new level down here in the south.

i bought my GT for 24k and more power to you for being prowd of your 6 that is so fast. I am on my 5th stang all gt's and I agree it is cool to say yuou have the under dog and it is that fast but my personal intentions are not to have meerly 300-500hp so the 6 is of no interest to me. We are aiming for 600 rwhp on the stock motor on my twin turbo setup and close to 900hp on a new short block and race fuel.... now that would be a waist of time and money for me to start with a 6 to get these goals. Nice car though and nice numbers (especially the TRQ)

Just playing Devils Advocate here (I'm not a gear head so I dont really know). But wouldnt it have been cheaper to buy a v6 for 20k, sell the engine, take the profit add the price difference you saved and the extra $$$ for the twin turbo and buy a drop in motor?

Not a bad idea, but you would need lots of ancillary parts, wiring harnesses, suspension parts, etc. to make it work. Might be close to an even swap $$ wise.

Always the V6 vs V8 argument.
I didnt buy a GT because I couldnt find one anywhere for less than 33k. I got my V6 Deluxe with an auto out the door for less than 20k.
Im also paying for a 04 F150, and a 03 Focus.
I also want a chopper for x-mas.
I also invest $500 a month for retirement.
Im also paying a house off in 7 years vice 30 years.
Its not all about owning the fastest or most expensive car, sure they are fun, but there are other importanrt thinks in life than a Mustang GT.
Had I bought the GT I would not be able to afford the chopper, so I had to decide what I wanted to spend my money on. Ive got a nice 05 Mustang to drive, and Im going to have a nice custom chopper to ride next summer, and Im still being responsible and planning for the future and retirement.
So why dont you guys quit female ******* at each other and just enjoy your cars, for whatever reason you bought them for.

But yes, success can be measured in many ways.. What is powerful enough for some (300-500HP), may not be powerful enough for others.. But at any rate, I think you hit the nail on the head.. If your shooting for 600RWHP+, best go with a V8.. Trying to nail down 400RWHP, the V6 can get this done.. Provided you dont mind investing in a few other drivetrain components and a carefully planned out power-adder modification..
So as you have plainly stated Turbo 05, we can happily coexsist as long as a few ground rules are followed.. Trying to get to 900RWHP is definately one that dictates the need for a V8.. But I'm just not sure many Toyota Supra owners will ever buy into this.. But who cares about Supra owners.. Their V6's wouldnt stand a chance in heck against your V8.. No way!!
