I put 17 x 8 Bullits on my car. I bought them from the Ford Racing catalog, they are the silver finished ones. The tires I bought were Nitto NT 450 255/50/17. It made a huge difference in the ride and handling of the car.
Here is a picture of them on my car-

Here they are in comparision to the ones on the GT-

I am using the Les Schwab 17"x8" Chrome Plated Bullet Wheels with 255/50ZR-17 rubber. I'll post photos in a couple of months when my '06 arrives. The rims are reasonably priced, and the advantage of the 255 rubber is you get a little scuff space off the edge of the tire, which will save you from buying a new rim if you scuff a curbstone.

Cost per wheel is $212.98 and each tire is $100.83. Wheel spin & balance is $11.75, Chrome valve stems are $6 each, and 5 locking lug nuts are $20. Total without tax is $1,406.24 for the set of four.
The GT take-offs are also a great option. You could always look into getting them Chrome-plated.

I've got the black Bullitts in 18's with some Falken GR-451 255/45Z/18s all the way around. Got them at Discount Tire. After talking them down from $210 a wheel to $155 (didn't even really argue with me either) and sold them my stock wheels and tires (didn't get much, but I didn't want to hassel with selling them myself) it came out to just over $1300 total installed out the door with 12 months interest free. It all arrived the next day, took about 40 minutes to install (they already had them mounted and balanced), they took a couple of pictures to send to friends, and I was done. The black really contrasts well with my silver paint job, and it matches the racing stripe. The chrome was a bit too bright for me.
No pictures yet. I've got to go give my baby a nice wash then borrow a digital camera. Maybe I'll manage to get some shots in the next couple of days.

Here's a shot of mine. I got after-market bullitts from Discount Tire with 255/50-17 Nitto NT-450's. The after-market Bullitts are 04-style and give the car a really agressive stance.
