Hey All,

Just found out that the whining during accelerations is due to a defective rearend. New one ordered today. The techs could not find the cause for the fuel kick back.

Some 05' owners are experiencing problems when trying to refuel. The pump "kicks back", not allowing the fuel to be pumped at a fast rate. It's pretty frustrating.

I've had the problem since I drove off the lot. I bought 200 miles from home, so going back to the dealer was impractical. My local dealer seems really cooperative. I originally ordered from here, but IUP delays caused me to cancel. Now I wished I had stayed with them. Oh well, live and learn.

I test drove an automatic GT yesterday and I noticed the whine when I let off the gas. Man it was nice. Got to have one as soon as the dealers get off the pricing a little more .

My whine happens when speeding up, not slowing down. I have not heard of another with the same problem. Dealers are willing to negotiate, you just have to make the inquiries. I bought with the X-Plan, no hassles at all.

I wonder if the "fuel kick back" has anything to do with tank ventilation. I don't know if that's my problem with my Bronco, but most pumps do that to me.... and 30 gallons is a long haul when I have to nurse it in there. Depending on the angle of the nozzle on the pump, sometimes it will blow back out, and other pumps it'll go great. I had to find the gas stations with the pump nozzles that worked with my truck.... otherwise I had to plan for a long fule up. .... and a messy one at that. It also could be the shape of the fuel fill hose.... if it makes a sharp turn anywhere... that might cause it to kick back too....

as far as the rear end trouble.... we'd all been sayin' that it was a bad differential.... I'm glad they took ownership of that instead of waited for them all to fall apart and have worse problems, and bigger expenses.

Right on, man... I hope that all goes well with you that have them. Do like I did with my '98.... if you want a gear swap, up to 4.10s or whatever, now's the time. Get in good with your dealer's techs and see if they'll work the swap.... just offer to pay for the gears.

I have to fill mine slowly also or it won't take the gas....Every time I try to squeeze the handle all the way on the pump it stops pumping...pretty weird....anyway, I also get the whine from the rear end when I let off the gas, NOT when I get on it......interesting to hear all the differences people are finding in their '05's.....

I have an automatic GT as well and two nights ago, this was very late when there was hardly any traffic and the noise factor was minimal, I noticed that I could hear the whine when i slowed down. You can barely hear it but it's there.

I have about 4500 miles on mine already, the fuel kickback started from the first day but recently it seems that it quit. But thanks for the upside down tip George, if it starts again I will try that. No whining rear for me yet, although the Shaker kind of drowns out most noises.

Have you looked at the little line that runs from the fuel door to the tank? I can see why someone would have trouble putting gas in if the flow rate is too high.
