One of the participants of the V6 Ford Challenge had one from Hertz, ran a 15.1 with SCT tuning.

Hi, do any rental car outlets have the 2005 mustangs? If so, what companies? Thanks

I know this particular post is older, but wanted to say I rented a v6 coupe this weekend in Houston from Hertz. It had 15000+ miles on it. I suspect these are typical rental miles in a performance car. I was extremely pleased with the car. It was such a pleasure to drive and I can't get enough of that hood in my face. Car was still tight inside, reasonably clean and everything worked perfectly. I have a v6 vert on order and hope to get it in the next couple of weeks. All in all, it was an absolute blast to drive and I am pleased to see that after 15000 hard rental miles on it, the stang was holding up beautifully.

When do the rental companies sell those cars? Is it at the end of each model year? Any ideas where they auction them off?

they usually sell them after the model year (with anywhere between 10,000 and 25,000 miles)
they auction them off at auctions usually ran by Manheim, i THINK you need a dealers license to attend tho
you could always tell your dealer to be on the lookout
my last 4 mustangs were all "Program Cars" which most likely meant rentals
