Go to the gas station and fill up all the way. Reset you trip and when you go back to the gas station to fill up, take the miles you have driven on you're trip, and divide it by the gallons you put in. So say you drive 230 miles, and you used 12 gallons of gas, you take 230/12 to get 19.166...MPG

The simplest method that's always existed... divide the number of miles you've driven by the amount of gallons you filled the tank with. Do this over many fill-ups and you'll get a good idea of your mpg.

Initial check will be to fill up the tank. Use the trip meter (if you do not have the IUP) to start a new logging of miles.

When you fill up again, get a receipt showing the gallons input into the tank and then divide the mileage from the trip meter by the gallons on the receipt.

Its best to do this over a period of time and then calculate an average of the MPGs.

EDIT PS - LOL.. Sorry about the multi post with you guys... Too many distractions between pulling up the response box and hitting the post reply button.

I you use the tried and true method of checking MPG consider doing those over the course of a month or two. Remember that mileage varies by a lot of different factors. Average the mileage calculation over time and you'll get a more true picture of your bottom line MPG.

Or register with your state/province at Gasbuddy.com and everytime you fill up, save your reciept and use the fuel logbook to keep track of MPG, expenses, etc
