In the middle of helping a friend of mine find an exhaust kit for his 05 V6 and came across JBA, and not noticing, they have a V6 True Dual Kit with an H-Pipe! Cutting off the stock Y-Pipe, guys at JBA said the system sounds great and p/u's 13-15 horsepower! and recommended me to a guy who has the best price on this kit

I've been eyeing that, but at the same time, I've heard people talk about losign backpressure with a true duel. I dunno...

When the JBA true duals came out, my y-pipe version was being shipped. Oh well... I dig how they sound, especially with headers! Still, I wonder how much of a problem it would be to add an X or H pipe and if it would even be worth the modification.

The fact they're aluminized vs. stainless is enough to put me off. For the dough JBA is asking, I think that's close to inexcusable.

I like my magnaflows, they sound good. I have been thinking about a mod to go true duals, but have been told I will not get a HP bump out of it.

got a message back from JBA. The pipes are 2 1/4" and they have had no loss of backpressure. One of their distributors has them listed as aluminized stainless steel/aluminized steel also. I might ask them directly though, but it looks like i'm going to go with these.

2.5 you mean.....not 2 1/4, cause I spoke to JBA as well and went on every website selling this kit and they all said it was 2.5 piping

Please excuse my ignorance here. My last "cool cars" were a '64 GTO then a '68 GTO. Now that family is raised & out of the house, I decided to go once more for a sharp looking car with some guts. Looked at GTO's, but with my background of owning them during the muscle car years, the present GTO does not do it for me. When I saw the 2005 Mustang for the first time, the car "said" Mustang. No doubt about its heritage. That's why my moniker here is NewFordGuy - this is my first FoMoCo product. I love it!
But this is all new to me: Fuel injection, computer chips, etc. :bang: In my muscle car days, if you dumped the original exhaust system (no catalytic converters then either) and had a shop put on glass packs, there were no "back pressure" issues, and my warranty was still good. The Ford dealer told me that I should wait till my warrenty period was over to go to dual exhaust or a cold air induction kit or it might void my warrenty if there was an engine trouble episode where I brought the car in for warrenty work.
So i'm a little confused. Is everyone here waiting till the factory warrenty period is over to do these performance mod's or are you guys just gambling there won't be trouble involving warranty voiding?
Sorry for rambling and hope I don't wear out my welcome. I really do love my new Mustang - driving is FUN again.
Best to all, Bill

Thats weird. This is the exact email from JBA:
"That is a 2 1/4" system. Have not heard of any issues regarding backpressure. Thank you for checking with us."

I def asked about the true dual setup for the 2005 V6 mustang.

I wrote to them on July 18 and they told me it was a 2 1/2 system.
Only two things that it could be. They changed to 2 1/4 recently or they just told you what you wanted to hear

I recently installed this kit on my dad's '06 Pony Package. It is a 2 1/2", madrell bent system, with H-Pipe. You have to cut the factory Y-pipe out.

A few things to mention:
-Our kit did not come with instructions, but fortunately we have been working on cars forever, so we knew what to do and how to line everything up
-The exhaust hangers they send aren't sufficient. They aren't comparable to the factory Ford hangers. With the JBA ones installed, the muffler is able to move back and forth at least 1 1/2"s both ways. So I bought some of the GT factory hangers from the dealer, now the muffler is fully secured.
-Lastly, two of the clamps they sent were too small. These clamps must have been designed for a 2" system, but this system is 2 1/2". So there was no way I could expand them out enough to get them to fit. We decided to have the entire system welded (with the exception of the axle-back mufflers, just in case he ever wants to swap these out for another brand later).

Other than the 3 things I mentioned above, which are relatively minor issues, we are EXTREMELY happy with the kit. With the factory GT muffler hangers, both exhaust tips centered perfectly (I should mention that we had the rear bumper cover replaced with a GT cover). It sounds great. He just drove it from Tampa, FL to Birmingham, AL, no problems at all. He said that it is definitely getting louder as he accumulates more miles.

I would definitely recommend this kit. I installed it in our garage with nothing more than a jack and jack stands, but someone with a lift would have an easier time with it. An exhaust shop would also not have any trouble. Hope my input will help anyone who is thinking about JBA's true dual kit. It is definitely worth it.

I would have no clue how to install a true dual exhaust.

But if I take it to a local shop, or the dealer...

What am I looking to pay? (Estimates?)

Thanks.

i did mine gt-takeoffs, gt left side pipe, magnaflow x-pipe and gt left side brackets installed at shop for about $450.00 total cost. I did have to cut the rear myself and it sounds great and leaves the line faster!

if u go to an exhaust shop, might pay close to $100-200 for installation, shouldn't even take that long. I would install it for you free of charge if you lived closer to NJ

Thanks Paul. I really had no idea what it takes or how much it would cost to put the exhaust on, but you helped.

I am going to start asking some shops around here.

Sounds much better than stock. It obviously isn't as loud as my GT with Bassani Axle-Backs, but he has accumulated quite a few miles on it now. He told me he can tell it is getting louder as the miles add up. Since he is now in Alabama, I haven't heard it since he left, so I can't personally tell you how it sounds, but my dad said it's great.
