Thanks! Hey, I thought the gear design in the detroit was different. I thought it had 3 clynder type gear units in it, all pararrel to each other. And the FRTLOC has two gears that sit on the one hooking up to the shaft?

I trust your technical knowledge on this, I'm just going by the picture on the Detroit site, and watching mine installed just a few days ago.
I didnt actually reply to the design concept.. Only to the comparison of the 7.5 and 8.8...

All,

I think my tach is off. Someone said I should have it looked at, with my 4.10s, I know the car is reving a lot harder, I can feel it!!! But my tach says I'm at 2500-2700 at 80MPH, though it can't be.

Any suggestions?

You did make the adjustment with the Predator, right?

I don't know about the Predator, but with the SCT-2 you can put the tire size(diameter I believe) and the rearend gear ratio in.

I will RTFM, I still plan on selling it. There are no diablo shops near me, all the racer shops are SCT.

Thanks for the help. I found it, made the change. I'll take it for a test drive tomorrow. Someone told me on another forum that the tune had nothing to do with it, I knew I should have posted here....more technical people on TMS.

Thanks again.

I have a question.
Can someone who has had their T-lock and gears installed let me know roughly how long the whole installation took you or your mechanic. I have the opurtunity to install them myself at school but school is only 6 hours including a 1/2 hour lunch, a 15 min break, and a 1/2 hour cleanup. This gives me about 4-5 hours more/less.
It is impossible for me to leave it overnight too, so its something I need to roughly plan before taking it on.
Thanks.

I guess that's going to depend on the learning curve.. I think average install time is 2-3 hours.

I'm going to say 3 hours for an experienced installer...

OK, I'm new to this so excuse me if this is a stupid question but, what is the difference between the 3.73 gears and the 4.10?
Also, is there anything else you need when installing the TLOK beside the new gears?
Thanks!

No problem, ask any question you like. I'm still new to this myself. The difference is gear ratio, the 4.10s spin faster causing higher rpms. This releases more power for 1/4 mile runs, but when cruising at 70-80mph you are around 2900/3000 rpm, which can be rough for some people. You do not have to replace the gears when you put in the tlok, but is reccomended since you will have the rear end open. You will also need a bearing kit as well.

Thanks. So, if I'm not going to be doing any 1/4 mile runs at a track and only using it on the street would it be better to get the 3.73 gears?
Also, I've found a few places to get the tlok and gears but did not see any bearing kits offered. Any advice on those and references on who's a good place to get this stuff from or should the shop that does the install normally have that?
Thanks again!

I'm jumping in here. So the 3.73's will spin faster then stock, but not as fast as the 4.10's, correct? My main thought now is that are the 3.73's worth it for me? I say yes because I am going to put on the T-loc so while i'm at it I should put on new gears to give me a little extra edge. On the other hand I realyl don't plan on racing this car. There are no tracks around here at all and I will not street race. I still have until the spring to decide though.
