Local shop sells Flowmasters and Magnaflows, etc.... The owner had put a set of this same mufflers on my 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII (V8 DOHC) and It woke it up big time, no more old mans quiet ride! I knew I could trust this guy's opinion and he said that the only other 05 he had done was on a V8 and the owner of it insisted on Flowmasters, however, he told me that the Magnaflows were a better muffler and he though it would sound better on the new 4.0-liter engine and I think he is right.

Everyone will have to choose the right muffler and sound for there taste, however, I like the sound it gave me. Earlier posts that stated that Steeda had choosen the single Magnaflow for their factory V6 2005 Mustang convinced me.

PS: Thanks to Brent for his helpful advice when I was trying to choose.....he gave an honest opinion on his products!
The shop I went to said just the opposite.. he felt the Magnaflows were too quiet, and didnt give the mustang a strong enough sound. That convinced me (over kill really as I had already made up my mind) to go with Flowmaster, even though they have issues upholding warranties and he felt I would get better support from Magnaflow. 5K miles later no problems, and I love the sound.

Thanks to all for making and posting the vid!

Really nice sounding! Not at all tinny and import sounding like the clips off Magnaflow's website. I'm not sure I like it better than the GT take-off I currently have, but it's fairly close, if I remember what the exhaust sounded like with just the muffler (have since added headers).

Magnaflow was claiming 10hp gains on their new axle-back and that might be enough of a lure to switch. Have you noticed any difference in performance or mileage?

Ill second that.. it sounds ALOT better than the clips on the Magnaflow website. We might could still hope for a higher quality recording though, hehe

Yes..............I was instantly able to notice a seat of the pants performance gain! I have not done any dyno results before or after. There is no lag in the throttle response now and it pulls hard all the way up to redline!

Your video and comment above were enough to sway me...I bought one online today! I'm a little nervous about the install because I haven't done anything like that in a long time, but hopefully it will work out and there will be none of this: :bang: or

I paid a local muffler shop$ 50 to put mine on. I second that, there is no hesitation on my car anymore. I definantly notice an increase in power.

I also wanted to say that there is no anoying drone inside the car with this muffler either. It's louder than stock inside, but I like the sound. Way more muscle car sounding than with the stock V6 muffler.

If there is a down side to the new install....it's this.....my gas mileage is down due to my heavy right foot!! (If you know what I mean?) It's hard to stay out of the throttle now.....cause I love hearing the muffler at WOT. SWEET!!

Thanks, that's a good idea. I'll take a look underneath the Mustang and see how complicated it looks and then I might check with a few places around town.

Its really not hard. The worst it comes to is a little muscle and tightening some bolts... but if you dont feel confident get someone else to do it. Ive always been the kind of person to pay for a job well done, especially if it means less work, trouble, and heartache in the future.

I have a GT take-off muffler that I installed myself, and I assume the install for the magnaflow wouldn't be that much different. I have very little experience working on cars and such, but I was able to install the muffler without too much trouble. The only hard part for me was that some of the bolts for the exhaust hangers were in kind of awkward positions, but I was able to get them with some patience.

Thanks. I took a peek underneath the car and, as you said, it looks pretty straightforward. If I receive it in time, I'll take a swing at it next weekend!

Hey Guy's (& Gals)......I just wanted to post again and say that the sound of the single MagnaFlow Muffler has gotten even better now that I have had it install for a couple of months!!! I swear I think it's louder, but in a good way! It turns heads everywhere I go! One of my earlier comments was mis-understood about this 05 V6 Magnaflow muffler sounding as good as the GT Stock mufflers......I was talking about pre 2005 Gt's.

Anyone still on the fence.........Do it!!

PS: Video Link if you have not watched it yet is on page #3

I'm gonna do it, but when I do an upgrade i'm going all the way and put duels from the start. I've heard so many good things from Magnaflow, that now it'd be them or JBA.

I think i'm getting JBA, I heard a 4.0 Ranger and saw it's gains and I think if I can get close to that sound and power it's my system.

Just to reinforce what a few people here already said, I finally got my Magnaflow on the car today and it sounds awesome. 1,000 times better than the clips on the Magnaflow website!
