Gt exhaust on 4.0

So I usually find what I need from old threads, but there doesn't seem to be a clear answer on this I know the GT pipes are 2.5 at the mid pipe the OA pipes go to 2.25 I think and the 4.0 is 2.5 straight threw. If I buy a 4.0 X pipe and take a GT exhaust from the mid pipe to the muffler, will it fit correctly? I have a local pick your Part place that has the GT muffler for $14 each and the pipes for $3 a foot. can I go grab it and buy the X pipe and be done with it? I'm trying to save on labor. So cut and clamp is what I need. I really wish i had a lift but i don't. And no this isn't for sound. I have mods that can utilize the extra flow.

When I did mine I got the mufflers from NTO, Bought new GT mid pipes and Pypes X pipe. Don't forget the hanger brackets. Took it to a muffler shop and had it welded in not worth the hassle on the ground.

Thank you. That's the first answer I think I've seen thats straight forward. I'm gonna run over to the pick your part place tomorrow and grab the mufflers, OA, and mid pipe. Should only be $40ish and I'll most likely proce the catalytic converter so I don't get the check engine light, even though I'm not sure if that will work going from gt to 4.0. Either way it's worth the shot. And I just ordered the Xpipe.

If you get the Pypes crossover you can tell where to cut your pipes behind the cats. The Pypes crossover comes with the hangers welded on. Line it up under the car and mark and cut your pipes.

I just bought I think it was an x pipe or h pipe think h pipe would have to look for a gt and cut it and cut the y pipe out, Pypes had a set of gt mid pypes for $20 take off at the time swap meet. Only need driver's side but were a set. get both mufflers and the driver's side mid pipe at the yard and like was mentioned get the hangers. While you are there if you can get the rear bumper cover in your color grab that too. Then you dont have to cut the v6 one. When I did this back in 2008 wasn't many gts in a yard yet. You get a little drone at a certain rpm in 5th but if you speed up or slow down it stops. They sound good. I got my mufflers on forum I think when guys were swaping them out had both gt and california specials with the rolled lip the gts seemed to get better gas mileage.
