Got my pypes exhaust on!
I recently ordered from blue oval on ebay the pypes dual exhaust kit with x and street pro mufflers. Soooo..I got them and put them on today...it took 4 hours.. The install was a PITA w/o a lift. First you must take off the old muffler...well you remove the 2 bolts on the rear hanger, and the 2 on the hanger that is completely different than the ones in the kit. Then theres a problem...The problem is the vibration damper impedes the ability to get the v6 overaxle pipe out. we just cut it and were able to get it out after 15-30 minutes of rejacking the car and figuring its impossible. You must however jack up the frame rails rather than the axle itself...otherwise it will smoosh the pipe in b/t the car/axle. After that was cut off the other ones went on pretty well and we let them sit. After that, was battling the xpipe. We decided that since there is a lot of horizontal ability to have in the new x itself, we'd give as much room as possible and cut right in front of the hanger. Well make 2 marks and your off. Now watch out theres the underside of the car and some bolts that will restrict the movement of a sawzall. Now we used a sawzall but a pipe cutter is probably better. After 3 cuts through stainless, the thing was struggling, and the batteries werent charged. So we finally got the 2 cuts made, then apply some grease to the downpipes and slide the x-pipe on. This is tricky...see pypes positioned the hangers wrong, which really annoyed me, so we bent them, and they still didnt fit. Instead of going through the holes, it went in the surrounding rubber of the bracket. There were also pretty useless instructions with no pictures. Soo after that is on and clamped, you must deal get the mufflers on. The best way is to have the forword most hangers on the car already, and the rear ones on the mufflers. On the drivers side, the paint in my "threaded" holes for the hangers was really bad, so we had to take a bolt and w/o the hanger in place go in/out with a ratchet wrench to thread the 4 holes.. Once the 2 forward brackets are on...the passenger side should be on still...you can hold the muffler in place and position the bracket and insert the bolts. Then attach the midpipes using the stock bandclamp and then new bandclamp (a lot crappier), and adjust the mufflers as needed to sit right. The exhaust sounds great.....very loud, growling and aggresive. The thing is, it is verrrry loud.. It drones, and the ride home from putting it on at our friends house made my dad say that these will not be on here for too long. I kind of agree with him, but I dont know the policy on whether the drone will go away with break in (wolfey had the same problem with his mufflers).
For reference..You will need a 13 and 15 mm ratchet deep dish. and something to cut the stock y pipe/over axle pipe (if you believe that you will truly never use it again(I did))

I was thinking about the pypes kit as a possible route for true duals. Does the kit come with hangers? It definately sounds mean, but I don't know how that will be as a daily driver. Keep us updated as the mufflers break in.
