Gas Mileage??
What are you guys getting on your V6? I checked my mileage for the first time yesterday on my newly acquired '05 and it was a very disappointing 20.9 mpg. I this typical? I say disappointing because my '03 Cobra that makes twice the power gets 20.5 mpg in town. This is so discouraging that I'm already thinking of dumping the '05 after only 1-1/2 weeks of ownership....

So, I'm guessing your Mustang is used. Bet the previous owner was a lead foot.
I'm just shy of 5000 miles and the Mustang is averaging 23.6 mpg. Most of those miles are freeway, although my average MPH is 37mph. Doh!
I'm in 5th most of the time i'm commuting. I generally shift into 5th at 60mph then cruse with traffic at a nice 72mph. I do like to launch off of lights though. I bet I could get better gas milage, but that kind of isn't the point of owning a Mustang now is it.

50/50 driving gives us an avg of 25mpg
highway is 80mph
City is small big city style (not traffic jams, but not constant flow either)..
4 miles dirt road is 10-15mph max (2 miles of dirt to get from the house to the blacktop)
Highway alone is about 28mpg avg (at 80 w/ a/c)
I've been able to get 30mpg driving 75. I got the 30mpg for an entire week when I used a light foot. (0 city driving, but there were 4 miles of dirt everyday)
This is on a 06, v6 manual transmission. Mileage has stayed the same since about 5k miles until now (35k miles)

Thanks for the input. I was thinking just that. I talked to acquaintence of mine today who also owns an '05 V6 and she told me her mileage is around 20, no matter how she drives it.
My line of thought is this: That V6 has to "struggle" to get all that weight moving, causing more fuel usage (inefficient). With a V8, it doesn't and therefore, more efficient.....

For a daily car I see what you mean. I'm lucky enough to own my V6 as a pleasure car and have a beater for everyday use. My Stang's highest mpg is 17.6!!! No clue why, but it is. Granted it rarely gets on the highway.

I got a V6 Premium just because the V8 was almost $9k more . I get around 22mi gal with my 06 but the vehicle it replaced (2001 Wrangler) was averaging about 14mi gal so I'll take it.

I just got back from a cross country trip and averaged 26mpg on interstate hiway cruise control driving at speed limits of 70 to 75 mph with a fair amount of mountain driving, but when I get back home to work at 10 miles one way city driving its only 15 mpg.

i wanna know how anyone gets over 20 in town with a cobra.
my 1999 GT averages 17mpg city driving.
All I can tell you is I normally fill up at around 270 miles on the trip odometer and it takes around 13 gallons. Very consistent, week after week. But in the summer with the A/C on almost all the time, it fills up with around 14 gallons (or slightly less than 20 mpg).
