Hey, I have been unhappy with the amount of noise from my cars front suspension since I drove it off the lot. lots of thumping noise when you hit bumps, like worn out strut bushing but lower in pitch. I have just started to hear a cracking noise intermitantly on hard turns where there is lots of side trust, and suspention deflection, like turning into a parking lot with a steep apron. Today I ran my hand accross the front tires just out of habbit, and I have a nice sharp feathed edge wear pattern on both. I a sure the dealer will just try and set the toe and tell me it was an oversite at the factory, but will find out on Wednsday when they look at it. Anyone else having these issue(noise or tire wear), mine is a V6 auto with 2000 miles. Just wondering if this noisy suspension is common to all cars or just mine.

There is a known issue with some front suspension noises-my V6 coupe has similar condition. Ford is working on a fix, either struts or strut bearings from what I have been told. When further information is made available to me I will post details.

When you say it is a known issue, do you have any documents or TSB numbers, incendent number or anything that is from Ford? Just incase my dealer plays stupid.

My GT Mustang was built 1/12/05 and it also has this popping noise in the front end. I waited until I could take a day off of work to have it and the Shaker 1000 "A" head unit looked at to validate my concerns. The Service Advisor seemed rather surprized when I told him of the strut bearing issue and a new Shaker "B" head unit being out. However, he wrote down exactly what I told him. About an hour after the vehicle went in, he came to me and much to his amazement I was correct. He ordered me a new "B" series Shaker 1000 and printed me an Oasis report on my vehicle. Here is what it said:

304000 - CHASSIS SUSPENSION SYSTEM

SPECIAL SERVICE MESSAGES

18461 2005 MUSTANG - POPPING NOISE - FRONT OF VEHICLE ON TURNS
2005 Mustang vehicles may exhibit a popping noise coming from the front of the vehicle in turns. Verify that noise is coming from the strut bearing or spring with chassis ears. Engineering is currently investigating. No repairs should be attempted at this time. Monitor Oasis for updates.

EFFECTIVE DATE: 3/10/05

THERE ARE NO TSBS FOR SYMPTOM ENTERED

The Service Advisor instructed me to call back in 30 days unless I heard from him first. He then thanked me for current information on his product.

I think the tire wear issue has been resolve for the moment. Had a front end alignment (NOT AT THE DEALER), was in spec but toed OUT .09 this will deffinetly cause the wear pattern I had. With it set to +.01 car feels like a New car now.. still makes noise, but holds the road much better with that tight toe set correctly feeling
