I took my car to ford because after my last service there, my car would shimmy and vibrate after 55mph and up. So I rode with the head mechanic and he recognised it. I get a call later saying that the driveshaft is out of alignment and that they are ordering a brand new one. Is this a common problem? What would cause a car with 5900 miles to have a driveshaft out of alignment? But at least I got a rental and they are cool about it.

If it couldn't be resolved by adding balancing weights, then maybe it was just a defect.
Have you been getting on it hard, maybe all that torque twisted it out of proportion

No, not at all. I dont understand how a drivetrain comes out of alignment? But I guess its just one of those things, like that guy that posted about his tranny.

I have the same issue. Replacing the drive shaft did not fix the problem. :bang:

They ordered new gears for the rear end to see if that fixes it. It hasn’t come in yet.

A couple of People on TMS Have Had Driveshaft Issues. It is usually caused by the Driveshaft getting bent by the Service Departments RACK not being Set correctly. Especially after a Fuel Tank TSB Replacement.
